KyleKyle: My wife bought this for one of our last backpacking trips. We ended up catching a handful of fish with it in mountain lakes.

The poles slight down into itself, and it is very compact. We set it all up and kept the reel attached but just packed the poles down when moving. It fits in a side pocket with no issues.

My only "gripe" is that when you cast out and want to snap the reel shut, it sometimes takes some force on the reel handle to snap it shut. I'm by no means a super experienced fisherman- I have mostly done ocean surf and deep sea fishing with rods and reels that my family had- but I noticed it felt hard to snap it shut. Not a huge deal at all for something like this off of Amazon, so I don't consider it a con. But if you're a hardcore fisherman, you might notice it and should probably be looking at something more expensive. Or, you could just replace the reel on it I guess.

Either way, this is a great rod and compact and portable, perfect for someone looking for a portable rig or going hiking or backpacking.

A. bottorff: I needed this for a trip to fish at a nearby lake and it was perfect. The rod extends easily, feels solid and casts well. The reel feels like good quality it is smooth cranking and casting so for what I needed -- a rod / reel that would fit in a suitcase - this is perfect. I do wish the included pouch / sleeve would fit the rod with the reel on it but that is a very minor complaint and the only one I have. I had no issues at all with the rod collapsing as some have said, it extended easily and held up for my 3 day fishing trip it is perfect for what I needed it for and I will use it again I'mm sure..... No of course it's not the best you can buy but it fits in a small suitcase and for the price??? Id buy it again

AJAJ: I got the 7.87 version , I have a 6.5 fishing rod from rápala , I like using the plusino more often, since is collapsible I don’t remove the line from it, I like the rod,case and reel but the accessories are just naw for me. Here’s a picture of me getting a northern pike, as soon as I cast the 5 diamond N#1 boom I got a bite, the rod seem to be medium sensitive which good, also due to its length I can cast at longer distances. Also my main fear was of the rod collapsing while getting a fish but that didn’t happen, the rod and reel already got wet a few time but they seem ok. It’s only been about three weeks and about 5 times that I have use for a 3-4 hours each time , so far it seems ok. Also one of my lures got stuck at the bottom of the lake between two rocks and I pull and pull and the rod bend , honestly I really thought it was gonna break but I didn’t care because I have Amazon prime but no it didn’t break and I got my lure back. Yes I will buy another one if this one breaks in a few month due of me pulling hard on it because it will be my fault . If you gonna use it as a normal fisher man I do recommend it. I might buy another one for my son

Larry: It is a handy little rig to have. It has good strength, but poor feedback from the lure. Maybe too stiff to have good sensitivity.

This rod and reel are nicely made. The reel looks very durable and constructed of mostly metal parts with very little plastic, namely the drag knob, the knurled crank arm holding bolt head, and maybe a couple of appearance-related parts. The spool is metal and the fit and finish are pretty much perfect from what I see. No burrs, abrasions, or blemishes. The spool felt a little tight prior to adding line, but after adding line and casting a few times, it smoothed right out. The drag works great and is easy to adjust even with a fish on the line. I spooled mine up with about a 100 yds of 15 lb braid with a 6' 8 lb fluorocarbon leader.

As for the 2.4 meter collapsible rod – just like the reel, this rod looks and feels great. Each carbon fiber blank (or tube section in this case) is silky smooth and without blemish. The guides are nice and fitted into a metal ring that also makes up the 'joint' that cinches each section when extended. All-in-all a pretty impressive rod for a very small price. The collapsed length of this 2.4 meter is 26 1/4” and extended it is just at 95 1'2”. The sections are loose when collapsed and...
