debbie: I put it in my bedroom and it is small to Word. It does not take up a lot of space and all I have to do is touch the top of it and it immediately lights up. I love the color.

Eugenia : No me gustó que la hora no se vea si el cuarto está oscuro y que para verla se tenga que oprimir un botón, eso ya es molesto y es más molesto el brillo fuerte de la luz que emite el reloj al presionar para ver la hora

Guru Bob: I don't know why most clocks have alarm on/off buttons on the back next to a similar switch for setting the time. This one is actually usable. Reminds me of my old Timex. Display is bright and the alarm sound doesn't make you want to take a hammer to it. Liked it so much I bought a second one.

R. ZielinskiR. Zielinski: What I like about this clock is: no "always on default" backlight, you have to hit the button to turn the light on. Large numbers, battery operated.

What I don't like: the LEDs that come with the clock are way too bright. It is so bright it will light up a pitch black room in the middle of the night. It will also make it incredibly hard to read in the dark. I had to squint and look at it sideways to read it. I would give it 3 stars for this.

After the first night I was determined to take it apart to see what I could do. Construction is very simple and easy to get into. With some soldering skills, I removed the two blue LEDs that came with the clock. I replaced them with 5mm red LEDs, with 2200 ohm resistors to dim them down. If I had to do over, I would put in 4700 ohm resistors, but it's good enough to be able to read in the dark without blinding myself. I did this with all 3 clocks that I bought and much happier.

I gave the clock 4 stars because it is much better now after the upgrade, but I had to do the work and buy the red LEDs.

Hawk eye: I had a unique niche of a need for this clock- I game online regularly and thus easily lose track of time. I may be called away and answer I'll be there in five minutes, and 20 minutes later I step away from the game.

I do have a wired alarm clock that's behind my gaming chair, but it's on the left side of my back, and I'm blind in my left eye, so turning to look at the clock is difficult. Yep, I have a smart phone, but fumbling with it during an online game isn't fun. I wanted a simple digital clock that wasn't wired, so I could position it by my TV where there's no outlets.

This little guy fits the bill perfectly. Easy to set up, easy to carry around, easy to read. That's all I wanted and this clock does that. So while I can't comment on the alarm or the "night light" function (I do agree with other reviewers that calling a briefly backlit screen a "night light" is too much of a stretch), I can say that if you want a no-frills clock that doesn't need to be plugged in and takes common battery types, this is worth considering.
