G. X.: I have three dogs and I brush their teeth a few times a week after my vet told me that one of them had tartar. This toothpaste is by far their favorite brand. They all line up to get their teeth brushed when I use this toothpaste in particular.
They've tried a few other brands, but they don't seem to have the enthusiasm about brushing their teeth with other kinds. One of my dogs even ran away from a different toothpaste that we tried and the other two weren't into getting their teeth brushed like they usually are.
In the end, we always switch back to this brand in the poultry flavor. I know it works too because at all of our other vet visits, they've all gotten clean bills of health on their teeth. No more tartar!!!

S. McPherson: This toothpaste is amazing!!! I have been using another dental paste for years on my dogs. I have never seen a dental paste for dogs take off tarter like this one does. I just got it today and after one brushing the tarter was almost invisible. With more brushings and I sure it will all be gone. I am paying over $1.5K for dentals for my dogs although I brush their teeth all the time. This dog toothpaste has changed my dogs life and mine.

Elissa: Made the mistake of purchasing “mint flavor” ( of different brand) for our pups first toothpaste. At 11 months when my food/ treat obsessed pup still wouldn’t lick this off my finger or a toy I knew I needed to buy another toothpaste in a dog loving flavors( my pup once licked an “icy hot” like lotion off of me immediately disliking it so may explain her aversion to mint). Anyhow, My pup LOVES this toothpaste and immediately goes for anything I put this on. Cant speak to tartar control effectiveness yet but so happy to find a toothpaste my pup gets excited about!

While I don’t think I was too successful first round of toofie brushing, he had no issue smacking his lips. Will keep trying. Love the “NO FOAM”

Jim: I have used the poultry version for years. I felt guilt that I was not using enzyme toothpaste and got a $25 poultry version of that. The dogs hated it. The only way I could get them to happily use it was to alter Petrodex with the enzyme version every other day. But you could see the dog's reaction when they realize it wasn't Petrodex. I know all dogs are different so no way to know how your dog will react. But I will stick with this product.

And, I did not see any difference using the $25 enzyme toothpaste. I forced the dogs to use it only for a while and I did not see the stains disappear. any faster Seems to me Petrodex worked about the same.

Anyway, I am using Petrodex exclusively now. Not sure it is the best thing to do but the dogs are sure happyier

AllisonAllison: My dog loves the taste. Two thumbs up for that!

I have been brushing my dog's teeth literally almost daily with this since he was a puppy. Only missed for the occasional day I was on vacation or out of town. Although I think it is a great preventative for build-up, I don't know how great it would be for treatment of already built-up plaques (as it claims). I think it is probably better to begin early. Even so, my dog has some mild build up on the back teeth (despite my best efforts). But overall, I think he has faired excellently for 3 years old. (don't mind the different-colored gums, he's a spotted dog! 😂)

I will say, don't waste your money on the multi-sided toothbrushes. We tried those once... They are a WASTE and don't work. At all. Get a baby or child's soft toothbrush (for smaller dogs) or an adult soft toothbrush (for giant breeds). Take it to both/all sides of the tooth. Just sit with them daily as they learn to tolerate it. They will. My dog sits for me own his own at this point, because he likes it (the taste of the toothpaste). It goes quickly every morning now. Reward with treats after.

Do need to "re-load" the toothbrush with more toothpaste...

AABAAB: Petrodex was my go-to a few years ago as it was available in the US, and toothbrushing time with the dogs was always fun, happy, and treat quality time, and I never really appreciated it as I should.

Since moving to the UK, I have tried many different kinds of toothpaste, they always smelled a bit too minty for my dogs
—obviously, many are designed for the humans (purchasers )to smell the dog’s fresh breath, but we know dogs like meaty flavours, and healthy teeth are vital, therefore I rather my dog enjoys brushing their teeth and smelling meaty, rather than having a minty fresh breath but struggle to care for their teeth—,

Put in mind that even if my dogs initially liked other toothpaste flavours, the fresh minty smell or no smell, or light smell, will eventually make them less satisfied with it fast, and I can’t get to finish a whole brushing session without enticing them with different treats, which defeats the object, especially if it’s around sleeping time.

Another problem I found is that other toothpaste products don’t remove discolouration as quickly as Petrodex, so you have to brush for longer and to reach the back of the mouth when your...
