Amazon Customer: Super easy to clean, and holds up!

Jessica03: The concept is great but the fake grass part is cheaply made. My puppy had it chewed apart with little pieces of grass everywhere and stitching ripping out. Ended up throwing away.

Christina HensleyChristina Hensley: So long story short... I had a Yorkie who lov d to be almost 18 and was actually still super spunky but her kidneys shut down. I just so happened to find a puppy that was conceived the same week I had to say goodbye. She is now 8 months old and potty training has been a struggle. She is smart and stubborn. We have been training her to go both on this grass potty pad and the grass outside and it is definitely helping. Her crate ( a.k.a. the puppy condo) stays clean now. Now we are just working on getting her to go in there and use it when she's running free while we are home. The reason though, I think finding this was a blessing is because because I'm older and wiser this go around and realize that a dog shouldn't have to hold their bladder as long as my previous little girl did. She was so good and never had accidents until she couldn't help it anymore. I was 16 years old and none the wiser about being away for too long. Now I have the comfort in knowing that my new pup will be able to do her thing whenever sh needs to once we get this perfected.

Jdav: I used two of these trays to help with early potty training for a litter of puppies from 3 weeks to 10 weeks when they went to their new homes. For the purpose of catching poos and pees, this worked super well! Every puppy used the trays with about 95% accuracy and since the puppies were introduced to the trays at an early age they never tried to tear them up. Major downside is even with daily cleaning, soaking, rinsing, and using every safe urine destroying product I could find, the smell gets pretty strong (stinks of ammonia like a cat box) and due to the weird size of the small trays, I couldn’t find any kind of disposable or reusable absorbent pad to put under the grass. If you can find pads that fit I think that would help a lot with the smell (or maybe put some kind of pine pellets under the grass?). They definitely work better than potty pads and aren’t as messy as litter boxes but are quite hard to clean, especially if you don’t have a hose or backyard.

Susan L.: I have used these Pottie Turfs for many years. This tray is the sturdiest and the grass is woven very well. I do recommend. Only change I would make -it would be nice if they hook or join together.

Guillaume: Worked just as it’s meant to. Replaced the spiky part with an absorbent peepad. Works well, easier to clean and smell less. Still have to rince the fake grass often and eventually replace it.

KR of OC: I ordered this because my new puppy had already been trained to use a similar product with artificial grass and I had successfully used this type of product previously. I used it a few days with a potty pad under the tray. It was THOROUGHLY washed daily and I noticed the pee pad was rarely wet and if at all, only on the extreme edges. I found this odd since since she had used it multiple times during the day. I also found the “grass” to be a wet, stinky mess each time I cleaned it.
I examined it more closely only to find the back of the grass to be sealed with NO drainage holes at all! I’m no rocket scientist, but I do know all artificial turf must drain! I did a little test with water and confirmed my suspicions. The water just sat in the “grass” until the amount was sufficient to seep down the edges. Bottom line, this design is DISGUSTING and explains the damp paws and unpleasant smell (and frequent baths necessary) on my puppy. She was literally walking and laying in her own urine.
I went to my local home improvement store and bought some real artificial turf - with drainage - and resolved the issue. Keep in mind, the “turf” is more expensive than this...

MS: Good product to teach a puppy to get used to going in one spot, however it becomes extremely smelly within about a week. The grass portion has a mesh bottom that is very thick, so the pee doesn’t drain out completely. We started off washing it once a day and then even began washing after every use, but the smell just wouldn’t go away- very good to get your puppy used to going in that certain spot, but the smell spreads and gets unbearable very quickly.

We gave up on using the grass after a bit and just used the black tray, but that broke/developed a leak and the smell was just as bad, because pee was getting underneath the tray and staying on the floor unnoticed. The pad also proved to be a bit small, as sometimes our puppy (5lbs) would end up missing the tray after circling to find an appropriate spot to go.

Would recommend as a training tool (super smelly so good to get a dog used to going in that specific spot), but not as a long term solution. The smell gets very bad even with regular cleaning, and all of the replacement grass options we tried from hardware stores or online, had the same thick mesh which would prevent proper draining. Definitely not good if...

Nicole: I brought my puppy home the first week of January. Since I live in a condo downtown Toronto I thought this would work well on the balcony to wean my puppy off of indoor pee pads and get her used to pottying outside on the grass. The first few weeks were good, but by the time my pup was 3 months, it was no longer working for me. I find the urine doesn't actually drip through to the drip tray below, but soaks into the broadloom the grass is woven into. It smells terrible, which works well for potty training because the dog can smell where they're supposed to go, but cleaning it was a nightmare. Because I live in a condo, I have to carry the filthy tray through my living space and attempt to drain and rinse by pouring hot water onto it into the toilet bowl which ineveitably creates a huge mess, and that doesn't even really get it clean. I resorted to washing it in my washing machine after I rinse it (which is disgusting) just to get it useable again. I would recommend it as a way to get your puppy to graduate from a pee pad to outdoor grass potties, but it's not a long term solution and not great for condos since the cleaning is so cumbersome.

Amazon Customer: Our new puppy learned to go potty on this mat quite quickly. Perfect for letting her out on the deck. After reading other reviews we also used a training pad under the grass layer so clean up is really easy. She did chew and try to rip up the grass at the beginning but that didn’t last long. The mat is small though (and our puppy is barely 5lbs right now) so if we aren’t watching or guiding her, she does miss the mat sometimes.
