Pierce Nienhaus: Let me make this clear, this book is for everyone on the left. Not just anarchists. Every leftist should read it and know it, because it is the most thorough and convincing work defeating the argument that humans are only naturally competitive. The book not only demonstrates how previous societies practiced mutual aid and cooperation in the absence of a state, it shows how cooperation is a greater evolutionary factor than competition.

arturo: El libro pues eso, un libro. El género te puede gustar o no, pero su escritura es muy buena. El tamaño es diferente a lo acostumbrado pero le va muy bien; lo hace más delgado. El tipo de letra es de buen tamaño así que se puede leer fácilmente (no es una letra gigante tampoco). Y el papel no es de tan mala calidad. Es muy bueno para su precio.

Anamae Aquino: Upon reading this book, its words only gave me more reason to ask the question Why would we construct society upon the ideas of competition and individualism if the only way to eliminate mutual struggle is by mutual support? As Kropotkin quotes Wallace “Don’t compete - competition is always injurious to the species, and you have plenty of resources to avoid it!”. As mentioned, the author draws attention to the way in which we view nature, but also, history. History is often told in a sanguinary tone, a tone that dominates the cooperation aspect of all hitherto human society. It is rarely if ever touched on that humans throughout history have practiced mutual aid for survival or advancement; which is presumably why it is seen a something utopian. Mutual Aid undoubtedly solidified my views and provided some basis in defense of mutual aid versus competition. Over time, the reader is bound to notice the repetitive format of each chapter, however, the author’s distinguishing word choice keeps the book entertaining. Kenneth J. Hausle: So I knew about this book before and I basically read it online at some anarchy site, but I was excited when I had a chance to get a hard copy and so I did. I gave my first hard copy away to my biology graduate degree niece. I must say I was flabbergasted to hear that she knew not of Kropotkin. However, I recently ordered more copies. $5.95 each is a bargain if I must say.

Kropotkin's book is the best of true study because he was a contemporary of Darwin and only he and others of his time could have the perspective to recognize a mistake in the making. He did his best to point this out, but has since been forgotten.

I am glad for Amazon because it allows the chance to resurface great wisdom such as that from Kropotkin - A Russian genius. Mutual Aid is so obvious it makes those who distorted Darwin's fine wisdom to be the hypocrites that they are. May all the hypocrites receive in return the suffering they have caused for innocence over many generations. But if wiser minds listened to Kropotkin the suffering could have been avoided. It makes no difference now - what is done is done - but perhaps we can learn and the starting point in this is Kropotkin's concept of...
