Amazon Customer: Interesting stories from a safari guide's perspective. Those of us on the "tourist side" often are oblivious to how much is going on in the background to keep us entertained, comfortable, and safe. Learning about the sacrifices and effort the guides put into making a safari enjoyable is enlightening and helps one appreciate the trip even more. These tales may also help tourists think, before behaving badly on safari. The dangers are real. These are wild animals struggling to survive. The guides and staff at the "safari resorts" are people with real lives, working in often difficult situations. This book helps one appreciate their efforts even more.

Crystallillian: Absolutely loved this book. It is different from what I normally read. I found myself laughing a lot and loving the different stories and experiences that happened with the animals. Well worth the read.

Amazon Customer: Peter's books are essential reading for anyone interested in Africa, wildlife or safaris. Those of us who have spent time in the African bush will recognise instantly some of the situations Peter describes and those who just dreeam of safari will get a unique insight into the reality of a safari guide's life but it is the wit and self-deprecating humour with which every tale is recounted that sets Peter's books apart from most other memoirs of Africa.
This book and it's earlier companion "Whatever you do, don't run" provide a fascinating and often hilarious escape into the world of safari guiding that will quickly capture your imagination and have you desperate for the next chapter. The only disappointment you will have is when you have finished them both. Then you will just have to start again at the beginning :-)

Vigilante: Es una continuación de su primer libro "Don't Run, Whatever you Do". Más de lo mismo y curiosamente muchas aventuras tienen un regusto a deja vu...

Zuri: Although I live in South Africa, I have never been on a real safari. I've visited game parks, especially the Kruger National Park (several times). I enjoyed Peter's book immensely and love his sense of humour, and the way he makes fun at himself. I imagined myself being with him in the Okavango -- so enjoyable! He recreates our wild outposts, where you sleep in various types of tents and see the wild animals up (fairly) close, as it is in real life. The couple of one-star reviews, with no explanation added, really do not count -- I think that to those reviewers Africa is just too unknown a quantity to enjoy. As a white African, born here, I have heard it said by tourists that "Africa gets into your blood" once you have been here. So enjoy this true-to-life tale of a safari guide, and come visit one of the game parks!

Valarie J. Lennox: I have just finished a safari in Africa and while I was on safari was reading his first book and couldn't put it down as it was true to a tee. I go this book and read it in one night as it brought back memories. His books are a must read if you are think about doing a safari in Africa as you will know what to expect

Hühnersuppe: My second book by Peter Allison and I have to say the best so far. When walking in Zambia it was a hilarious book to read and while I do believe some stories are quite over the top, the author is really funny and entertaining. Outside the box - a pleasure to read! Being a freelance writer I have to say he has a natural talent and for someone who has only published two books, his style of writing is pleasantly sophisticated. It turned out our guide was friends with the author which made the book even more enjoyable, but that's another story. Must-Buy for nature enthusiasts! Peter, keep your books coming...

RockBAAZ: If you are the types who love the wilderness, and have savoured that heart pounding, adrenaline pumping, knee knocking experience of being "that" close to a dangerous wild animal, this book is for you. Peter Allison is a lucid writer, with enormous amount of wit and sufficient dollop of self depreciation, and in his books, he brings to life the fun - and frustrations - of being a safari guide in Africa. He has a way with words, and can bring the jungle that he so obviously holds close to his heart - alive in those pages. You will be left thirsting for more, once you are done.
