Pentel EnerGel Pearl Deluxe RTX Retractable Liquid Gel Pen with Quick-Drying Ink for Smooth Writing

TylerTyler: I like Pentel Energels; the refills are one of the finest I’ve ever used. Smooth, buttery, among the quickest drying inks I’ve ever encountered. If you’re new to the pen world, then Pentel Energel is probably one of the top 3 pens you can buy in-store, period. The other strong contenders are Uni-ball Jetstream, Uni-ball Signo, and Pilot V5/V7. I personally prefer Energel over the competitions, although I still have a collection of pens to rotate through.

That about sums it up for the refills and the ink itself, but this review isn’t just about the ink and refill; it’s also about the body. For about a third of the price of these pens, you can get the Pentel Energel X. For half the price, you can get the normal Energel RTX. So what makes this pen so special that it costs almost $6 a pen? The colour. Yup, that’s it.

How does the body feel to write with? It’s good; in fact, it’s identical to the normal Pentel Energel RTX. It's nothing special compared to the other Pentel Energel bodies. Amy: I love these pens and have been purchasing for years. They were a great find at $6 and change. If you prefer a fine tipped pen that is smudge proof and refillable, buy these pens. Absolutely will purchase again, especially when found at great price!!

Chris M: Amazing pens for the price. Write extremely smooth and perfect ink flow. Kinda of a cheep feeling pen which I would gladly pay more for if that was improved. The only reason for the 4 out of 5 stars is because of the button on top used to push the pen tip out. It’s very lose on the pens and jiggles around making a noise while you write or move the pen around. With this being said, these will be my go too pens from now on.

Don Donalson: I don’t know what to say I’ve tried to teach you, I tried the sharpie gel pens, and I’ve also even tried the zebra gels. I am a student so high right a lot and take a lot of notes. It is important to me that a pin, right smooth and feel comfortable not smear, ink and Beeson enough and dark enough at the same time. This is hard to find and a lot of pins that you don’t wanna pay high dollar for. These are my favorite pensband they are all I buy now.

Chong Luo: Pentel Energel is the smoothest pen I've ever used. I also have Pilot G2, Uniball Signo 207 and several gel pens from other brands, but most of these other pens are not even close in terms of smoothness. The only gel pen that's close is PaperMate InkJoy. But InkJoy doesn't offer refills, and its grip is not as comfortable as Pentel's Energel Pearl.

Pentel Energel is a great joy to write with. So smooth that it's similar to a fountain pen. Plus, they dry quickly and don't smudge or bleed through the paper.

This pack of 4 pens is also great value.

BTW, the Pentel Energel refills are all interchangeable: be it 0.7 or 0.5, needle or metal, they all can fit in the same Pentel Energel Pearl pen body. Interestingly, they are also interchangeable with PaperMate InkJoy.

Mo'ui/Mimi: Dagnabit, I wrote a long review, and then... the power went off. So, my near-perfect review is gone! Here's my abbreviated version. I am a lefty and have a kinesthetic weakness (a type of dyslexia in the fine motor control needed for penmanship). Throughout elementary school, I ALWAYS received a "needs to improve" in penmanship. It was only when I entered junior high and started taking keyboarding classes that my grades changed. That was good, but there are still a lot of times I need/want to write. A friend suggested I use a pen that has "a good glide" to it. So, I went to Amazon to see what they had to offer. I saw the reviews for Pentel Energel and thought I'd "give them a go". Great call on my part. These pens are amazing! The flow, ease of movement, and an array of colors were more than I expected. I hope other people who have a weakness as I do, will give these pens "a go". If anyone reading this has a kinesthetic weakness or knows of someone who does, do them a favor and tell them about these pens. No, I am not affiliated with Amazon. I am simply an old teacher who worked with dyslexic kids and now have a granddaughter who has the same.
