Key Features:

Saint Patrick's Day is a day of celebration and remembrance of the patron saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick. The day is celebrated on March 17th and is a national holiday in Ireland. It is celebrated around the world, especially in countries with large Irish diasporas. The day is marked by parades, feasting, and the wearing of green clothing and shamrocks. The traditional story of Saint Patrick is that he drove the snakes out of Ireland, although this is probably a metaphor for his mission to convert the pagan Irish to Christianity. The day is also a celebration of Irish culture and heritage, with traditional Irish music and dance playing a major role in festivities.

Lacey: I like the illustrations, and the storyline is fine, but leprechauns leaving treasure on St. Patrick’s day is a tradition for us, so when one of the pages explained that leprechauns aren’t real, well, that doesn’t work for us. I liked the historical tidbits about St. Patrick, though.

sandra: for someone who wants to give a child a gift about this saint, it is well done. Some of stories about St. Patrick may be myths, but the parent can explain the difference between true and a myth.....St. Patrick actually is a person who was once alive. Santa is a myth, but parents handle that with a child...eventually.

Ms Ann: Love this book. It was perfect for explaining St Patrick's Day history and common traditions to 3-5 year olds. I especially liked that we were able to teach the meaning of the shamrock. We planted shamrocks too add to the lesson

ProudMother: This book is perfect for PreK to 2nd grade. Does a great job of explaining St. Patrick's Day. I use it in my 1st grade classroom - I teach in a Catholic School. It captures the children's attention and explains it at their level. I love this series. I just wish the author would make these book in a larger size.

Britney MechamBritney Mecham: This book is adorable. I was looking for a book that would explain the history of Saint Patrick's day in a simple, child friendly way. But, also I really wanted to know the background story for myself too! This book did just that and it is so cute. I love the illustrations. They are so fun and just make you want to dive in and try out some of the other holiday traditions (or take a trip to Ireland) to get a true feel for the holiday.
