British TV fan: I'm in shock after paying thirty dollars for a fraying, thin, limp piece of polyester felt that didn't even hold up to one wash and does not seem very absorbent. This isn't even dollar store quality. It's nothing like my other PackTowl, which was also expensive but is made of a durable microfiber material. This one is so bad it seems like a prank. Do not recommend at all.

D. R. Gibbons: This is the classic Packtowl, made with mostly natural viscose. I find it more absorbent, comfortable, and quick-drying than the 'improved' fabric of my REI packtowel. The newer fabric is less bulky and feels a little tougher, however. The viscose felt is bulky and does feel a little more delicate. That's fine with me, esp. since this one seems to dry really, really quickly.

The Xlarge is big enough to wrap all the way around my waist. Still haven't decided whether to cut it in half to save space for backpacking, or just deal with the bulk in order to keep the benefit of being able to wear it after bathing. Either way, it is an excellent towel.

MR D H DAVIESMR D H DAVIES: My towel developed holes within 3 months of use. Now, 1-year later, my towel looks like a piece of Swiss cheese.

This towel will not even stand up to domestic use, never mind a rugged outdoor lifestyle.

The next light towel I buy will be from a competitor.

Sudoku: My girlfriend took one of these on our backpacking trip across Europe 12 years ago. I recall how useful it was then, but never thought to pick one up for myself until now. Unfortunately, Amazon wouldn't ship the Large to my location for some bizarre reason, even though every other size was eligible. That's why I deducted a star. Regardless, I was able to find this product elsewhere for cheaper. For reference, I am a 6'1" male with a slim build and the L is plenty to dry me off after a shower, including my hair, which is kinda long for a dude. The Large won't wrap securely around the waist though if that's a concern (but it may for more petite women). It's super light, compresses down to nothing, dries very quickly, and can be used for anything from hand washing clothes to an emergency scarf. So if you're in the market for a versatile travel towel that serves all kinds of great utility, then look no further.
