Doc: We bought this to aid in our move across country. It was easy to install. It held quite a lot and held up throughout our over 1400 mile journey. the material was stronger than I expected an was actually better made than another one we had for years that was more expensive. The stra ps stayed put for the most dfpart. I think we had to adjust them once or twice along the way but we were drivig in some high wind conditions. We drove through rain and none of our items got wet! I would definitely buy another one for our other car if needed.

J: Took this on a 1200 mile road trip, and it was packed as full as it could be. This bag held up to interstate driving (avg speed 70. Top speed 75), heavy winds, and rain. I literally drove through a gnarly thunderstorm on interstate and experienced zero leaking, and no damage. Pretty impressive for $24! I would purchase again.

PSU: Purchased this for a trip to Fingerlakes NY. Used two straps and hooked the excess strap thru doors. We did put all the bags in plastic just in case it rained. Well it POURED!!!!!! Drove for six hours in high winds and did I say it POURED!! The bag was great!. Everything stayed dry, not even a tad wet. The only thing was that rain came down the straps in doors. We had towels in back so it soaked it all up. I would say a very good buy!!

jecondon: Used appropriately, this is a really nice and sturdy car top carrier. It went on (older Nissan Xterra with the factory roof rails) and packed easily. I tied it down with an extra rope just in case a buckle gave out, because I do believe in going overboard with securing your load so you don’t lose it and kill someone, but the provided straps were quite sturdy and easy to get tightened down. I was happy that the straps were designed to go over the top instead of being sewn onto the sides - this gives some extra security. There was a little extra road noise, but with securing the ends of the straps so there was no flapping around, the extra noise was minimal. We did not encounter rain on this initial trip, but installed correctly, this thing sure seems like it will be as waterproof as a soft carrier can be. (Nothing with zippers and seams can ever be 100% waterproof under all conditions.)

You do have to understand the nature of packing and of soft-sided carriers. Don’t use this to pack hard things or things with pointy corners/edges (use it for your soft luggage like duffles and for sleeping bags or tents that are packed correctly with the poles on the inside). Holes will...

Moana S Faana: This is my very first purchase of a cargo bag or any kind or cargo roof carrier. I've looked at cargo boxes vs cargo bags. I went with the bag due to the ease of set up, removal and stow away.

I ordered the 16 Cubit Feet for our 2018 ford explorer. it was exactly what we needed. The product itself was great. It is exactly what they advertise. I was very happy with it. It is strong and definitely waterproof. Great quality materials and easy to fold after use.
We drove over 1,000 miles this summer and the bag performed excellent. We drove in light and very very heavy rain and wind. And the bag protected our items. No rips, no noise on the road. Even driving over 75 MPH....
But I did notice a slight dip in our MPG as mentioned in other reviews of bags and cargo boxes. So that's nothing out of the ordinary.

Although you don't need a roof rack but having a cross bar was very helpful. One issue with 16 cubit or a larger bag is that it has to sit on top of the rear cross bar. But it did very well.
And I love the fact that you can remove and fold the bag away when we reach our destinations.

But here are things I've learned in general for this product or any...

mr d r craven: Overall I am happy with the roof bag. We used it to travel from Cardiff to the Loire in France. It did hold a lot of kit ( 5 sleeping bags, 2 folding chairs, a pile of towels, sheets, a rucksack plus a few other bits). It strapped well to my roof bars and was quieter than with roof bars alone. It didn't move an inch. A tip from me is to tuck in any loose strap as they tap on the roof when traveling. The bag straps are designed towards using roof bars and roof rails together as the straps on the bag are fixed at those angles, so as I only had roof bars to fix to I only tightened one strap each corner very tightly and then used the other strap which is at the wrong angle not too tight as I wasn't too confident that the stitching would hold out. Still was more than secure like this. The material itself is waterproof for sure but I did have a lot of rain on my journey which meant somehow water did get in via the edges (zip). I had ensured all the flaps were down but to be fair it was a lot of persistent rain and it wasn't a huge quantity of water. Before I had even left Cardiff one of the velcro pieces for the flaps had come pretty much away from the bag. Not a huge issue as it still...

Simon Mitchinson: I received the roofbag from PI Auto Store a day earlier than expected and it is excellent.

I used it on a 300 mile, mostly motorway journey, on a Skoda Yeti, in a mix of sunshine, drizzle and light/medium rain. I filled it with medium-sized sports bags and soft-sided suitcases.

I placed the bag on the roof of the car before filling it and securing it to the roof rails (I did not use roof bars).

The bag didn't move at all on the roof and I found the straps very secure. The contents were completely dry inside.

I think the bag is very well constructed, very good value for money and I am really pleased with it.

I would happily recommend this product and PI Stores to anyone.

Alex spencer: Wasn't quite sure what to expect when I ordered this, compared to a solid roof box it seemed very cheap and I have to say the only reason I bought it was because of previous reviews.

When it arrived I was very happy with my purchase. Very heavy duty and totaly waterproof (this was tested in a very wet 8 hour drive to scotland) we had a lot of odd sized hard boxes to take with us, and compared to a hard roof box we had used previously we were able to get more stuff in due to the flexibility of the bag. Another bonus over the traditional hard roof box is as long as you have roof rails you do not need a costly roof rack.

The only thing that could have been better were the securing straps that were just a little bit light for me. I threw a couple of ratchet straps round it make sure it was secure however that was probably overkill.

attack84: I'm back from a family camping trip and the bag was everything we needed! I'd looked at some of the cheaper ones but wanted it to be waterproof so ended up with this. I wanted the convienance of storing a bag rather than a large roof box plus this costing a third of the price of a box.
It's very well made with a heavy duty zip and seams.
I used it with horizontal Thule roof bars which I was also carrying 2 bikes on. This meant I didn't fully pack the roof bag out in terms of width as I only had about 80 cm between the bikes. It still fitted very securely and there was not much extra noise etc whilst on the motorway.
Because of how I used it (with bars/bikes etc) I think I'll put a thin board in the bottom of the bag next time and maybe some heavy duty straps around the entire circumference of the bag but that is purely to stop the bag sagging between the roof bars. Overall definitely recommended for the price!

Debdebdeb: Bought this for a camping trip as I only have a little VW Polo and young children / bulky car seats etc - The tent alone filled the boot so bought this to carry everything else... Was a bit concerned at first that it would blow off the roof but it was absolutely fine, even on the motorway... Only issue is where to store it now I'm not using it - Could have done with some kind of storage / carry bag for it...
