Ozone Aqua-6 Ozone Generator: Purify Water with Replacement Filter Cartridges

Amazonian#1: I am using this to keep my cold dunk chest freezer setup clean from anything that might grow in it instead of using chemicals. I've had it in a waterproof box outside for almost two years now (left it out through two winters in Colorado) and it's still running fine and keeping the water clean.

BE VERY CAUTIOUS THOUGH! Be very careful to breathe in as little of the ozone as possible. This last weekend I accidentally knocked loose the hose that connects to the bottom of the unit so instead of the ozone going into the freezer it filled up the waterproof container. When I opened the container I got hit with a concentrated breath of ozone and have been suffering since. I've also breathed it in when opening the chest freezer and now make sure to hold my breath when opening the lid and air out the freezer for a few minutes before getting in.

Ozone irritates your nasal passages and other airway passages and it's been like having a bad head cold for the last 3 days. Along with the irritation it increases your bodies allergic reactions to allergens like pollen. Cliente de Amazon: Buen producto, cumple lo que promete, pero hay que tener cuidado con el consumo de agua ozonizada, en el instructivo dice que sirve para tratar agua para beber, pero no indica que el agua, que usualmente contiene bromuro (y es difícil de eliminar), al ser tratada con ozono genera bromato, que es cancerígeno, por lo tanto se tiene que vigilar que los niveles de bromato en el agua estén por debajo del permitido para su consumo (10 microgramos/Litro).
Fuera de eso está bien para los otros usos que indican, y seguir las instrucciones con cuidado de no exponerse al gas directamente.

Jose M. Urquijo: Es muy práctico, no pesa casi nada y lo puedes llevar a todas partes. Tiene un timer y se apaga solo lo cual es muy útil cuando tienes que salir pero quieres dejar el agua purificando.

Lo único malo es que no trae instrucciones y no es claro si hay diferencia entre la piedra blanca y la gris, yo las he usado indistintamente aunque no sé si eso está bien.

cupajoecupajoe: My years old, well used machine was acting up, no ozone was being produced, and I gave it up for dead. I decided to go on Amazon and buy a new one.
However, I got lucky and found the problem, and fixed it. Figuring there was nothing to lose, I modified the old machine.

I had been wanting to ozonate oil, but this particular machine cannot do it (without modifications).

One reason it cannot "fully" ozonate oil is the oil becomes very, very thick, like Vaseline. If the machine turns off while the air-stone is submerged, thickened oil will back-up into the air-stone, and then travel some distance up the rubber hose.
And, assuming you use Setting #10, 20 minutes on, 40 off...
40 minutes later, when the machine turns back on again, the tiny, weak air pump will not be able to push the oil out of the hose. And, very likely, the corona discharge tube will short out, overheat or burn itself out, since no air is flowing through it while ozone builds up inside of it.

Modifications.
Anyway....I bypassed the electronic controls by jumping the two relays which control the air pump and the corona discharge tube (the tube which produces ozone).

Everyone's_a_critic: We found that no, there are indeed strategies short of tactical nukes to really root out dust, pollen, pet dander, dust mites, mold, fungus, bacteria, and viruses from a dwelling. This ozone generator is one of three air cleaning systems we use in our house. I have penned the following piece to explain the strategy we employ to keep a building's air as safe as possible to breathe.

#1 - First up is your standard issue HEPA based air purifier. WebMD tells us that HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air filter) filtration is well proven to remove dust mites, mold spores, pollen, and pet dander. A machine that moves air and filters both gross particles as well as those down to the sub-micron level is a good choice for a basic perimeter defense. HEPA purifiers can be pricey, however I’ve found that the Austin Air series are a good value, with a relatively lower up front cost than other filters, and a five year filter life.
