Barbara C: I’ve used the earlier model of this scale every day for about 10 years and been so happy with all its features—pull out for items that take up the whole platform as well as large numbers that are easy to read, and unfailing accuracy. I read a review that mentioned the scale was still the best, but that it had some recent design upgrades. Since I use this scale many times each day, I thought it might be worth it. It did not disappoint. The scale now remembers the last unit used (the earlier version always defaulted to pounds and sometimes the button could be sticky to change to grams) and it has a backlight so the numbers are always brightly lit rather than having to press a button to turn on a light that wasn’t too bright. The control buttons are rearranged and more intuitive.

Thomas F.: I use a kitchen scale almost daily for baking. I had the smaller OXO for maybe 8 years - I think I actually went through two. When I broke the last one, I saw this baby while ordering a replacement and thought to myself "what the heck Tom you're sitting here using a commoner pedestrian scale when there's this luxury item?" So I ordered it and never looked back. It works better, stays on longer, reads easier, tares more weight, and is definitely worth the upgrade if you use a kitchen scale with any regularity. Bake on!

Johnny15: I've found that the scale works well and is easy to read with only two buttons the scale is very simple to understand. The digital display is clear and being able to pull it out when measuring using large bowls is a great feature that I find myself using quite often. I personally wouldn't purchase it at the full price as it is quite expensive but I managed to get it on sale for significantly less.

J. D.: I splurged on this one, and I am glad. I got it for weight loss goals, and I have never been good about weighing my food before but I am here to tell you -- having good tools makes the difference. This thing is so much easier to use than any other food scale I have ever had. I can easily put my bowl on it, tare it, and add food until I get to my amount. My old scale I could not even see the numbers the display was so poorly lit. This scale is just EASY which is what I need. If it is hard, I will not weigh my stuff. If you're trying to slim down like I am do yourself a favor and get this thing. I doubt I would be weighing my food if I hadn't got this. Totally worth it.

M C C: It's a good size and shape--can hold a large bowl but is not too bulky to store. We really bought it for the pull-out display--a very convenient feature if you are weighing a large batch of ingredients in an oversized bowl, such as for bread-making, or a big piece of anything. The display is very responsive. It also stays on longer than our old scale before blanking out (5 minutes), and it has a bit of memory so it will remember where you were for a while, even if it does goes off, say if you got interrupted or distracted in the middle of weighing out your ingredients. It was a gift for my baker, and he's very pleased. (I do get to use it too.)

2-bit reviewer: This scale is fantastic for what it's intended to do: weigh things. Super visible display, batteries are replaceable and cheap, and you get tenths of an ounce which is plenty accurate for cooks of all skill levels. You do have to remember to turn it off, but this also means it only shuts off when you want it to, not while you're weighing out ingredients and you realize you need to go find the coconut oil that's in the back of the pantry.

"But reviewer, I hardly ever bake! What am I going to use this thing for?"

Even if you're not baking, if your recipe uses weight measurements, this will make your resulting dishes more consistent and much easier to control.

If all your liquid measuring cups are occupied or dirty, you can measure water using the rhyme, "A pint's a pound the world around." It's not accurate everywhere, water can change density depending on factors like temperature and air pressure, but it's close enough for most tasks.

If you're a barista or aspiring barista and you're trying to nail down a coffee recipe, you're going to need the mass of the beans and the water that goes in the brewing device. You'll have to use an app or a stopwatch to...

Anke: Veel keukenweegschalen versleten en spijt dat ik deze niet direct heb kunnen kopen (niet leverbaar). Het is een degelijk apparaat. Het weegplateau is te verwijderen om schoon te maken. Het uitleesvenster is uittrekbaar opdat ook bij bredere schalen het display te lezen is. Het display is niet ver uit te trekken, maar tot nog toe afdoende gebleken. Wat ook prettig is, is dat hij niet te snel uitgaat op die manier verlies je geen info tijdens diverse metingen. Kortom niet goedkoop maar zijn geld zeker waard.
