Mn mom:
Every child would love the sweet stories about Owl. (And for that matter, also Frog and Toad, by the same author.)
If you can find a version with included CD voiced by the author, Arnold Lobel, even better. We are enjoying these now with a second generation of children, and often gift these to other young families.
Good for all ages, actually, as I too enjoy these stories. Over the years, I have found myself quoting the passages when appropriate.
A plus for parents, the stories can be read in a few minutes, so tired little ones aren't kept up too late, and I don’t get bored.

Moe: Grownups will love it too. Slightly sarcastic and definitely not of this era, which I love. Great pictures and short easy to read sentences.

E ci fa divertire facendoci pensare. DA LEGGERE con i bimbi! bellissimo

Rich:
A curious cousin to Lobel's
Frog & Toad
series, Owl at Home is five short stories compiled into the only Owl book Lobel wrote. Which is unfortunate because Owl is one of my absolute favorite characters from childhood, and one I enjoy sharing with my kids today. The bumps at the foot of Owl's bed are so easily turned into a fun bedtime game while Owl's frustration with Winter always brings the giggles.
First published in 1975, Owl at Home lands right in the middle of the Frog & Toad years, with
Frog & Toad Are Friends
(1970) and
Frog & Toad Together
(1972) on one side, then
Frog & Toad All Year
(1976) and
Days with Frog & Toad
(1979) on the other. It is my favorite period of Lobel's, coming into his own as a writer while honing his skills as an artist. His collaborations with
Jack Prelutsky
certainly influenced his works, and by 1981 he finally won the Caldecott Award he'd been nominated for several times before.
And at the heart of...

Christiane L: Same author as the Frog and Toad books... I love this Owl book. I read it to my niece when she was little and got one for my son years later. He's 8 and we still love reading this book together. The stories are so creative and help us create such sweet memories since we reference them in normal life. Whenever we drive home at night and can see the moon, I say to my son, "Hey, should we invite the moon to come stay at our house tonight?" He plays right along and says, "But what if he's too big to come inside?" :)
