ARS: I have waited nearly 20 years to buy real clippers, WHY? just eat the cost, I have spent twice or three times the money on round after round of inferior clippers. I cut my hair tonight and my wife noticed the difference, just a much nicer cut even with the bootleg blades I ordered by accident. the only thing I would do different is to get the wireless ones but Im only cutting my hair so I can get used to the cord

Iskaral Pust: I've been cutting my own hair for 30 years. I've had many clippers, mostly Wahl, since that's usually the only brand the stores have. I hate Wahl. They're noisy (81dB) and the cheap magnetic motors are gutless. These Oster Classic 76 clippers have way more power and are just 66dB.

I've had to replace countless Wahls, and the last one was so bad I swore I would never buy another, no matter the cost. I am so happy with that decision. The Oster is definitely worth the extra cost. Love the sound and power of the rotary motor. Love the changable blades. Love the easy maintenance. Love the longevity. Love the 9 ft cord. Love the switch on the end. Love it.

L B: I'm a professional barber of 36 years. My old Oster 66 of 8 years finally crapped out.

I did have an strange issue with my new replacement. ALL of my attachments would rattle loose and start to pull hair. Being an experienced barber I inspected and attempted to adjust all of my attachments with little change or luck. I soldiered through my cuts for two weeks thinking the clippers only needed "breaking in" which I never had to do before.

Being new clippers should I have inspected them first? Yes! The two clasps that secures the attachment outside of the centered horizontal blade mover was crooked vertically (they should have been ecactly parallel.) This was the cause of the attachments vibrating loose. With the help of a small chisel and hammer I aligned the side that protruded out too high vertically. NOW it works like new.

I'd still recommend this problem...but inspect thoroughly especially if you're a professional.

DH: I am not a professional barber, I am just a guy who shaves what is left of his hair each week. That being said, I have been shaving my head every week at least once a week for 16 years, so I know what I am talking about when it comes to razors, clippers, blades, and anything else out there.

Over the years I have spent hundreds of dollars on the less expensive "home" models from brands you might find in Walmart, Costco, etc. I have even gone so far as buying the "sale" $99 buzzers with "innovative technology" and "multiple clippers" - again, I buzz... I want the close shave; I want it fast; I do not want to cut my head; I don't want to break the bank. Over time, the clippers all failed, many of them never lasted more than a few months.

From time to time I would go to get my head buzzed by a barber, and I was always amazed at the feel, look, speed, etc. that comes from a professional barber. I wanted that at home. So, I finally did it, I bought this unit, and WOW!

K.A.: I bought these clippers to replace a pair of cordless clippers that died on me (Ermila Belisima). I replaced cordless clippers with corded ones because it was the battery pack that failed on my old clippers. I was eventually able to construct a new one and now I have two and only one head to cut hair from. I can now compare the two side by side.

Oh cordless clippers are sooo nice, all the freedom one doesn't have with a wire. Unfortunately the model 76 is a corded clipper. It also packs a lot of power, so I don't need to rinse it nearly as often to enjoy a nice even haircut. It also has an AC rotary motor, so it runs slower than my cordless one and that's another thing I don't like about it. On the upside, this clipper comes with replaceable blades. I found the 00000 which fits my needs perfectly. With it I am enjoying a closer haircut, close enough to shave my head afterwards with minimal nicks from my razor. I may have repaired my old clippers for nothing as I'll be sticking with the model 76. I just take a bit more time cutting my hair and wrestling the wire.

Another thing: model 76 is not for travelling. That model has an AC rotary motor, so it can't be used...

K.S.: I am a non-professional and have been cutting my own hair for about 4 months now. Previously I have been going to a barber a buzz cut (#2 usually or one higher) for about 5 years now & figured I could save some money doing it myself. I started out using the "Wahl Elite Pro High Performance Haircut Kit" which I purchased at a local store. Then I purchased the "Oster Classic 76" on Amazon. This will be a lengthy review but I will give you my in depth personal experience with both and why I switched to the Oster 76.

Wahl Elite Pro High Performance Haircut Kit review:
This is a pretty good kit & I was satisfied for my first couple hair cuts but then I started to notice that it was missing hairs. I thoroughly go over all sections of my head but for some reason it seemed to miss some hairs. Not all that many but it started to get pretty annoying. I would notice them on the sides of my head looking in the mirror for example and would end up getting some scissors to snip them as they were noticeably longer. There really weren't that many so I wasn't too concerned at first. For the life of me, even as a non-professional, I'm not sure why it seemed to miss some after so...

Adam Wood: I've been clipper cutting my own hair for over 15 years now, and I used these Oster Classic 76 for over two years. I really like the Classic 76 and highly recommend it. It has a lot of power and cuts hair easily, and it's an outstanding clipper. The detachable metal blades are much more comfortable to me than the plastic guides that you can buy, too. However...it's not perfect. It runs a bit hot and can be loud, and it's not a small set of clippers. The newer A6 (marketed for pet grooming, but great for human hair) is slimmer, quieter, and cooler running.

There are already many, many review for the Classic 76. Like I said already, it's a great set of clippers. I'd just like to give you some info about the A6 to maybe help you choose between them. After getting the A6, I stopped using the 76.

Some things that stood out to me after getting the A6 and comparing it to the Classic 76:
(*) The A6 is a more rounded shape, but it's not that much smaller than the Classic 76. Holding them felt about the same to me, with the A6 being just a little easier
