It's the second time I'd ordered the garlic powder and black pepper from Starwest. Took forever to receive and was perplexed as to why it shipped all the way from New York!?? Don't like the fact that no "best before" dates are indicated on the resealable polyfoil bag.

So far out of all spices we have tried, Starwest has the best value, quality, aroma and flavor out of all organic brands. Also, their packaging of the resealable, easy to open mylar bags is also the best quality. Usually Starwest is cheaper, but even when it is a dollar or so more than others, even with us being penny pinchers, we feel it is well worth the price every time!
This pepper has the most fresh, unique and robust aroma and taste we have tried for any pepper. It almost smells lemony when you open it, so fresh and delicious. It is spicier than any we have tried too, but in a good, not overly hot kind of way, just fresh and peppery with a nice healthy feeling kind of bite to it. Utterly delicious and well worth buying in bulk vs anything we have tried in a store.

This pepper is finely ground, fresh, and flavorful. Far superior to an expensive name-brand pepper I bought at the supermarket. It is a large amount of pepper, so you may want to share the bag with others. I keep some in a sugar bowl and press all the air out of the bag it came in, make sure it’s fully sealed, then wrap a rubber band around it. I checked the pepper in the sugar bowl (which does not have an airtight lid) and it was still fresh about 2 weeks later. Of course, you can just put it in a pepper shaker. This pepper would probably be great in a BBQ rub. Highly recommended.

The medium grind is a little on the fine side, but I actually like that as it releases the pepper flavor without needing high temperatures. It adds wonderful spice to a wide variety of foods from hot drinks to slow cooking crock pot feasts. We have used it for several years and its always a nice, consistent product. I think its the best pepper by far, rich in flavor and aroma.

I was just finishing up a popular grocery store non-gmo brand of black pepper. I refilled the container with this brand and wow!!!, the quality was evident. This black pepper is much more potent, meaning I use a lot less. So I’m happy to pay for the quality and the fact that it is organic.
