Pansy: We do own a gas grill, but he missed the flavor of charcoal grilled food. I looked around and didn't want anything too big, as there is only 2 of us, although I believe it could easily cook for a family of 4. It took him 15 minutes to assemble (he's a mechanic). Immediately he ran out, bought charcoal and fired up the grill. He is so happy, he's in his "element".
I don't think a night has passed by when he hadn't fired it up and he's had it 3 weeks. We love the convenience of the gas grill, but there is something to be said for a charcoal grill. This is a sturdy item and I foresee it lasting a long time. He's trying to figure out now, how to smoke food, as we had never done that before. At the rate he's going, there may come soon a charcoal shortage (just kidding - or maybe not).
****This is a portable grill, I wish it had longer legs on it, or as an add on. We do not carry this grill around, and would imagine it too bulky to do so. This is why I took away one star on versatility.
Aside from the above comment, this is a perfect grill, and I will have less cooking to do in the future. :)
