Aji: I used it to connect my Netgear router to the ethernet plug in my apartment. Works well.

Carfo: I've never seen these used in home networks too much but it couldn't hurt and objectively it's better than your standard UTP cable. The flat design is nice because it can be made much more compact and has a greater bend radius than a typical ethernet cable does. Because of this, it's perfect for a laptop bag where you want to have your own ethernet cable to bring. Given it uses UTP 32AWG, you'll also get less interference in case this is somehow an issue at your home network, but in a business network where it's more likely to run into these kinds of things, ideally every switch and patch panel should be using this type of cable, not only is it easier to manage but additionally because of the greater protection against interference. I ran a speed test on a regular cat5e UTP cable vs. this one at home and noticed no difference, but there's no harm in using this over a standard one, if anything the design makes it worth it.

🤗Ovrjoyd🤗: I still use my 2006 Mac Pro, but never bothered to install a WiFi card because it is located right by my modem. Hence, it requires a direct Ethernet connection and the old cable was getting a bit frayed at the connector after many years. This takes care of the exposed wire problem. I like the flat cable because the excess can be easily rolled up for a tidier appearance. Very unique! It works well and it's always good to keep a spare on hand because cables do go bad!

Nah: It's hard to get excited about Ethernet cables, but I really like these flat cables from Netgear. I believe they're exactly the same ones that come with the Netgear Orbi mesh routers. The ends have stress relief and because of the flat design of the cable itself, is easier to route around your desk and elsewhere over traditional Ethernet cables. The only knock is that the RJ45 ends don't have a snag protector. If you paid $10 for a single Ethernet cable and broke the clip on the jack, it'd be kind of a bummer since it doesn't look like it'd be easy to crimp a new jack on very easily.
