Wendy: Blanket is very supple and works ok for light duty MiG and tig, terrible for stick (especially 6000 series rods), gas or plasma cutting. Higher energy welding/ cutting sparks will burn through causing the blanket to unravel, exposing operator to a large amount of small glass fibers-way beyond environmental occupational safety standards.

Dogs4Pals: I've used this with a woodstove on my patio. I've dumped plenty of hot embers on it and it doesn't even get singed. Also, there's no impact whatsoever on the blanket from the stoves firebox that is inches away.

Amazon Customer: Works well doubled up to cover a small trader smoker in cold weather. Significantly reduces fuel consumption under any weather conditions. The material does stain for this particular purpose if that is a consideration.

Pat: I am a professional welder and I was tired of reading useless reviews where folks use these to cover smokers as it is not relevant to the intended purpose of these blankets.
I bought two and yes, they have fiberglass floating around, you might get some in your hands, I never have but some soft hands might. Don't like floating messy fiberglass, I would recommend something not made of fiberglass.
For light sparks, mig/tig/stick these work great. If you plan on placing these within inches of your weld they will likely be damaged. The key here is a maximum temperature of 1000 degrees as stated in the description. If you are cutting with either a plasma or a blue tip wrench and use this underneath the blanket will get burned, again, 1000 degrees. Molten slag straight off of the steel is quite a bit higher = burn hole. Using these to cover items that are on an angle is best. Sparks hit, roll off. Using them while a shooting a stream of sparks flies off your grinder within inches of the blanket and.....burn hole for obvious reasons.
I burned up my blankets because of reasons listed above, they were needed on a job in a pinch so they were used and abused. I have two...

jef400dread: This made a considerable difference for cool/cold weather smoking and grilling. Reading the reviews for this before purchasing, it sounds like users that bought this with the intent of retaining or blocking heat while cooking were happy with it, while welders were disappointed. I haven't had anything that was on fire (or a coal) come in contact with the blanket, so I can't comment on how it performs in that regard. For a double drum smoker (where both drums are mounted sideways, one above the other) this does a good job of covering most of the top drum. I monitor both meat and cooking chamber temps when smoking, and do not open the chamber until the meat hits the desired temp. With this blanket as a cover, I'm able to keep the cooking chamber at a stable temp more easily.
Using this on my standard propane grill to cook steaks in the winter (30-40 degrees F) this blanket performed exceptionally well. The first time doing this, I let the blanket cover the handle too. The blanket worked so well that the handle was scolding hot. The handle has never been scolding hot before. From then on, I tucked the blanket into and under the grab handle so that it remains cool, yet the cooking...
