Karen S. Tsutsumida: This is a great tool that simplifies hems and anything you need to fold up that has a straight edge. Other uses as well, but just getting used to using it. Love it! Bought a smaller one as well.

A. Schliebs: It was burried under some papers. Therefore, I completely forgot about it and did some hemming samples on old rugs with a hemming foot. That worked only in 50 % of the trials. Will test the sliding gauge next time instead.

barbee08: Slider is sticky, hard to use. put back in packaging, not using any more.

Carina KwokCarina Kwok: The media could not be loaded.  Love that this ruler has so many extra features beyond an ordinary slide ruler. This one is made with sturdy plastic compared to bendable aluminum. The measuring wings lock in place and won't slide unless you push hard. The wings are wide which makes it so easy to mark my projects. The ruler measures both directions - from the top down and from the bottom up. I love all the handy markings.

Joann S.: I was looking forward to getting this sewing gauge. It is very useful. Accuracy is great. However, I feel it is poor quality plastic, which could break easily. I will use carefully.

Donna.B51: I have always used the small metal rulers that my mother used, but it didn't seem to be sufficient lately, especially after I ran across the little plastic indicator that rarely stayed in place while using my rotary cutter. When I saw this ruler by Nancy Zieman, whose television program I always enjoyed and who was a bit of a heroine for me back when I was just developing my sewing skills, I decided to try using it and it has worked very well. The indicator is hard to miss and it keeps its place until I decide to move it. I am very pleased with my purchase.

anne Thompson: But flimsy but does job I bought it to do.

CMB: I was looking for a sewing gauge that would not bend easily, like so many of the metal ones do these days. After much hemming (no pun intended) and hawing, I chose this one based on some advice from a sewing group. I truly think this is a bit over-priced (and I was lucky enough to get it for $8 not the current price). I do not quilt so I think some of the features are a bit unnecessary, FOR ME personally. I DO like that it "clicks" into place but on the other hand, I feel like it might snap some times when I do that. This is what I wanted: A gauge that would not bend & a gauge that had a "slide" that would stay in place during a task. Does this do that? ... yes. Am I happy about that? ... yes. Do I think I had to pay a lot of money for that? ... yes. BUT ... is there another product that does that? ... No. (Not that I could find). I think what it comes down to is: when you get tired of buying metal gauges that bend and don't stay in place then you may decide to buy this. Don't get me wrong, it does A LOT, but if you don't use all those features (like me) it's a waste ... I hope this was helpful ... Would I buy this again if/when it breaks ... I don't think so.

HH: I bought this a couple of months ago when I decided that I wanted to take sewing from simple mending to actual creations. Since then, I have recommended it to a friend and bought another one as a gift. This little gadget has saved me from buying 4 separate gadgets (5 if I ever need a compass). Its construction is sturdier than the alternative at my local sewing store and it is incredibly easy to use. I had to add hem allowances to a project that was 39"x78" and this made it very easy and much quicker than I had anticipated; I never had to readjust the guides back into position because it has a lock mechanism where you have to purposefully press down a release button in order to move the guide to a new measurement. I love that it has two rulers - the static one on top and the adjustable just below which allowed me to ensure straight markings at all times and, in the case of a buttonhole, 2 markings at once. I used the button hole feature for marking the size and position where ribbon would come out of a gift bag. I simply placed the ribbon over the gauge and moved the ruler up to the bottom of the ribbon and took that to the fabric to make my markings. Once again, since it locks in...
