Brighton: This book had a very good plot and characters it was enjoyable but a bit too much (‘as a man of science’) and some of the explanations a bit too elaborate and could have been more succinct . a bit of a soppy end

Susan Montgomery: This was a very exciting mystery with just enough restrained romance to keep it warm hearted. The love and trust just enough to keep the awfulness of some of human nature from tying me in Gordian Knots of anxiety.

Alice Franklin: Once again Lady Charlotte, Wrexford and their expanding found family are drawn into an intricate plot via a seemingly meaningless murder.
As well as enjoying the plot and excellent cast of characters, this was a great read rooted in key geopolitical issues of the era - I feel both entertained and educated!
I am looking forward to the rest of the series and wondering what other historical events and changes the author will expertly wield for her characters - as well as finding out what fun and games the weasels get up to next!

C. Trussell: For once neither Wrexford nor Charlotte discover the first body, but they are drawn into the mystery of why he was murdered. It’s an intricate plot once again devised by the wealthy to gain more wealth and involving one of the most important companies of the time. Again scientific advancement plays an important part. And Wrexford and Charlotte’s ring of helpers grows, even including a dog. This was a page-turner I couldn’t put down, including the Latin aphorisms, the humor, and a bit of romance—finally. It was all good.

Sophia Rose: Murder at Queen’s Landing struck close to home for Wrexford, Charlotte and their friends pitting them against the combined might of power and wealth. I eagerly snatched it up and delved back into the tension-wrought, gritty Regency London world Andrea Penrose created that combines history, mystery, romance, and friendship in a dynamic, engaging story.
Murder at Queen’s Landing is fourth in the strongly connected Wrexford and Sloan series. The mystery is built on people befriended in the last book and the surrounding story threads are ongoing from the beginning of the series.
I enjoyed how the tentative new romance between Wrexford and Lady Charlotte has grown them into a strong couple and detecting pair of equal respected partners, but also made them grow as individuals. Charlotte has learned to loosen her grip on her need to go it alone to take in a made family and friendships while she rejoins the aristocratic society she walked away from. She is learning to grasp the truth that Wrexford reiterates to her that she returns as a whole new person with vast experiences that will keep her from becoming what she fears and will keep her from losing any part of the...

Crystal Carr: Charlotte and Wrexford are again wrapped in a mystery - with the East India Company. Old and new friends delight us with their appearances and the story is a powerful one.
A wonderful read to add to your bookshelf

erinaf: I'd rate this 4.5 stars. This was another solid book in the Wrexford and Sloane historical mystery series. You don't have to have read the previous books to get your teeth into this one, but I'd recommend it as the other books contain background on the main characters, particularly their social situation. While the murder-mystery is definitely the focal point for this book, there are some overarching relationship aspects that carry through the series. There is a brief summary or two included here and there, though, that will help if you're new to the series. If you've read Book 3, you might remember Lady Cordelia and her brother. She's a blue stocking and he's a bit of well-meaning, but clueless, aristocrat. When a nefarious plot seems to involve the two siblings, particularly Cordelia's genius with Mathematics, the gang are drawn deep into a seemingly endless puzzle that seems to lead to corruption by not only a London bank, but the powerful and untouchable East India company. When a finance officer is viciously killed, all clues indicate that it's being run by a clever, tightly run group, led by someone powerful and influential at the top of the organisation. As Sheffield is a...

Kindle Customer: What I really liked about this series was the connection between the pen of AJ Quill and the mysteries, and that seems to have diminished. Once Charlotte put on her posh frocks that all but disappeared. The usual cast was all there and it all felt very comfortable, but, and I feel bad saying this, I was a bit bored for the first half of the book. Whereas in previous books Charlotte would have stayed up into the early hours getting her satirical sketch right, this time she decides it's time for bed, and that sort of sums it up. And I am pretty sure that every boy educated in any way during this period would know what the blue Peter is. I liked it, I just didn't love it, or find it 'un-put-downable'.
