Don Bilyk: I found that cooling the bottles didn’t really make much difference. DO NOT OVERFILL! Get a good scale and weigh the bottles.

Patricia Vanaman: The adaptor saves hundreds of wasteful 1 lb cylinders that end up in the landfill. Who knew this simple solution of filling the 1 pounder from a 20 lb tank could be so easily accomplished!!!!
These adaptors should be marketed and sold alongside camping equipment.

Daddy DIY: I can't believe how easy this was to use. I do a lot of ice fishing and have a Mr Buddy heater and Jiffy auger that both take the 1lb propane tanks. I refilled 3 of my 7 1lb tanks almost 20 times total. The heater will go through 2-3 tanks while I'm out fishing if I'm out there for 8-10 hours. I drilled close to 100 holes last season, most through 24"-30" of ice up here in Wisconsin, and still am on the same tank. Once my 1lb tanks are empty I'll put them in the freezer for a couple hours, then take them downstairs where I keep my 20lb tank warm during the winter, hook them up and flip the 20lb tank upside down and open the valve. You'll hear the propane filling the 1lb tank and after a few minutes and giving the big tank a couple shakes until you don't hear it filling anymore, close the valve and turn back upright, unscrew and they're ready to use again and again. My 1lb tanks fill up just as full as a brand new one bought from the store. If you use 1lb tanks as much as I do this is a no brainer and saves you lots of cash... Highly recommend this product!

Ken Dunlap: The adapter is easy to install and use, but there are a couple of places where some users fail.
You must be certain that the Temperature Difference between the two tanks is fairly large. The large tank must be significantly warmer than the small tank, and if the large tank isn't very warm, having a cold small tank will not be good enough. It has nothing to do with getting a vacuum in the small tank (as some reviewers seem to believe), rather it has to do with the temperature dependence of the vapor pressure of the liquid. If the temperatures of the two tanks are the same, the pressure will be the same and little if any gas will be exchanged. The vapor pressure of propane increases with temperature, not with quantity of propane in the container. When the Temperature Of The Propane in the large container is Greater than that of the small container, gas will flow from the connected large container to the connected small container. The greater the difference the faster the flow. As the small tank fills, its temperature will gradually increase and the temperature in the large tank will slowly decrease. So, if you just leave them connected the two tanks will reach an equilibrium...

W BRUCE MACDONALD: Quality constructed adapter allows you to fill a one pound propane cylinder from a 20 pound cylinder for a fraction of the cost. A great addition to my Buddy propane heater which will cut down operational cost yet still allow for the portability obtained when operating on a one pound cylinders. To use, connect the adapter to a 20 lb cylinder, then connect the one lb tank. Invert the 20 lb cylinder to get liquid instead of gas. With the 20 lb valve opened and the 1 lb cylinder held perfectly vertical, press down on the 1 lb cylinder relief valve until liquid sprays out, not vapor. A small locking surgical clamp is ideal to keep this valve open. The tank is now safely filled with gas expansion room on the one lb cylinder.

Brad in Pahrump: This adapter will allow you to refill the green 16.4 oz propane BOTTLES (Coleman, Worthington, etc) or the blue 14.1 oz BernzOmatic from a standard 20 lb (5 gal, well 4 gal if fitted with the 80% fill valve limiter) TANK. (I refer to the cylinders as bottles and tank for clarity below.)
Some tips for a satisfactory refill:
You DO NOT need to freeze or warm anything. The bottles DO NOT have to be empty.
You DO need to wrap a couple turns of teflon tape around threads of the adapter and then tighten it onto the tank BY HAND until it seats - if it becomes hard to turn after a twist or two you are cross threading so back it out and start again. If you force it on with a wrench when cross-threaded it will leak and cause you needless frustration, so tighten by hand. Now take a wrench and give it another 1/2 turn or so. You want adapter tight on tank so that it doesn't come loose when screwing on and off your bottles.
You DO want to transfer only the liquid propane from tank to bottles. This means you will have to lay tank on its side if more than 1/2 full and completely upside down if less than 1/2 full, otherwise you will just fill bottle with...
