Motul Multi DCTF: Dual Clutch Transmission Fluid for Smooth Gear Shifting

Brian H.: As the title states, this is a rather great DCT fluid; probably among one of the top name brands, alongside Redline and Amsoil. I actually used this as an alternative to Ford’s OEM DCT fluid for the 11-15 Ford Fiesta/Focus automatic transmissions, which are DRY dual clutch based designs (Powershift).

Some people say that they can get away with other GL-4 75w-80 or 75w-85 gear oils and manual trans fluid, but I was feeling a bit risky, as those gear oils/MTF’s tended to be on the thicker, more viscous oil side. And of course, I did NOT want to run any sort of ATF as an alternative, as those typically do not carry the friction modifiers needed for manual gearboxes (which dual clutch transmissions operate on, electronically).

This DCT fluid ended up being a great change over the Ford OEM DCT fluid, and was much more affordable. The only other cheaper formulas I saw fit using, were either Valvoline or Amalie, which were not that far off from the pricing per single quarts or bundle packs.

RJ: Many in the ST community suggest this stuff, so when it came time for me to flush the trans fluid I picked up this kit since you need almost 2 full bottles. Changed my fluid at 60k miles and this DCTF fluid made the shifts much more smooth; you can feel the difference after the first drive warming it up. No issues so far with spirited street cruising, extremely happy with this fluid and Motul is a quality brand.

I HIGHLY suggest you get a small hand pump kit that can either screw onto the bottle or fit into the rubber nipple that is already on the bottle when you pop it out (keeps a good seal to prevent any contaminates from entering). I went with the Slippery Pete Fluid Pump. It didn't screw onto the bottle but the tube fit perfectly into the rubber nip. A small pump and tube is much easier than trying to fill this with just a funnel.
