The Mongoose Impasse Mens Mountain Bike is the perfect choice for any cyclist looking for a reliable and comfortable ride. With its 29-inch wheels, aluminum frame, and 21-speed rear derailleur with twist shifters, you'll be able to tackle any terrain with ease. The front and rear disc brakes provide superior stopping power, and the multiple colors available make it easy to find the perfect bike for you. Not to mention, the 2.35-inch tires offer a smooth ride and the thread-less headset ensures crisp steering. This bike is the ideal choice for those seeking a top-notch quality bike that is easy to assemble and offers a high level of overall satisfaction. JeffJeff: All these negative comments are just because you need to understand that it takes some adjustments. Which is the same as any bike. It's not hard to do.
The bike itself is awesome. The parts on it are what you'd expect. It's not top of the line.
The brakes feel solid and compare well with my Trek bike.
The derailer does feel much cheaper then my Trek but works well.
The seat and seat post I swapped from my Trek. The one it comes with is NOT easy on the butt lol.
I also changed the pedals as the lens it comes with are as you'd expect. Entry lvl.
The front shocks out of the box are so nice. I have Rock Shoxw on my Trek and these for now feel just as good.
The tires are ok. I can tell they will wear fast. Very soft rubber. But that's to be expected.
Rims feel good so far. But eventually probably something I'd change up.
I also added a bike rack as there is no place for a bottle. So for $40 it's a cheap addition I'd recommend if you want to have a place to carry water.
I'd suggest getting a front small fender for it. It does kick up more water being a 29".
Back doesn't need one if you do the bike rack as I did...

Getrag: The bike needs some adjustment for the brakes and the gear change, like a regular tune-up, no big deal if you can do it. Could really use better suspension up front but hey, you get what you pay for. It does the job. Small tires, again it is all right for the price. Happy with my purchase.

Tim: Got to be honest, the bike came with a couple defected parts that I had to replace but over all bike looks and handles well.

Promidway: Very nice bike. Only one minus - came with bended wheels (
Take 2 day to buy key and an hour to fix .

Bernard B.: This is a great bike for the price. It came mostly already assembled which was a nice surprise. I saved alot of money assembling the rest myself. I am a rough rider so I have already bent and damaged the derailleur which I think should have been better designed. This is a great bike to build on and tweak yourself. It really goes over all the bumps and does what other bikes can not do. I am very impressed with this bike. It is a very fast bike and I have had a tone of fun riding it. I wish the seat was a bit taller and the crank shafts a bit longer as I am 6'3" and around 230 pounds. You really can't beat the price. A similar bike that is swift and has a full suspension like this goes for around $700-$800 so I feel like I got a great deal. I saved on not having it assembled and that was a huge plus. Really the only downside was that its made in China so everything is delicate and the quality of the metal is not as good as it should be. Mongoose has always made the best bikes in my opinion and its just wonderful that they offer a full suspension 29er at this price. The bike is delicate and its noticeable how things made in China are done with the minimal amount of material in order...

Brad Boyce: Great bike for your buck! Only issue that I have found so far, is the plastic guard on the front gear, broke off the first day, but was not a big deal, just took it off, still works great.
I am a big guy 5'11" 295lbs, got this to go on rides with my family, work great for that purpose, got a trailer for my 14 month old son.
My brother states this is to big of a bike, but the larger wheels makes a difference on the rocks and such. I think this could fit most adults as it is lower than traditional bikes, but the seat is easily adjustable. Front and rear wheels come off easily with no tools.
I had to adjust both front and rear gears, but that was easy to do with these gear sets, they are done with a screw driver after a few tests I was able to get them to shift just right. Also adjusted the breaks so they are setup equally. Was easy to assemble, mostly was an allen wrench for all adjustments except the reflector on the front.
Had to fill the tires to 40 psi, was a bit low, but was expected.
-1 star for the cheap gear guard in the front (most people remove them, but still)

Scott A. Doering: I bought this bike off amazon for $250. I have been a downhill racer for 17 years so I feel pretty confident when saying I know what I'm talking about. My downhill bike is a Cannondale Super V Carbon 700 Missy Signature Edition with aftermarket goodies. I bought this bike for just something to play with. However, I was pleasantly surprised at what it can do. I can't say much about the packaging because, there is NO packaging. It's literally a bike in a box, so expect some sort of damage. Unless you do the work yourself, don't plan on taking it out the day you get it. I do some very serious mountain biking on single track trails on this thing all day once a week at Jiminy Peak, MA. Have been out 6 times now. The terain is very steep, technical, and rugged. Full face and gear required. The 29" wheels are a bonus. The bike handles very well. The pedals are metal and nice and grippy. The ride is pretty nice. The rear shock is actually pretty decent. The fork is a little soft. I bottom it out all the time. I can't say much about the shifting and components cause it's downhill. I never really shift. As long as I have 8th or 9th gear I'm all good. The bike can really take a beating too....

BrianBrian: I did not set up the back derailer and it’s not apart of the guidebook either if you can fix what they sent. Pretty disappointing after waiting a long time for this bike to be sent. Unusable in its current state. The front wheel and handlebars were very easy to set up
