Audrey S Quick: I called Moen customer service about a 35 year old Moen shower handle in one of my tub/showers. I had a standard (not posi-temp) valve and he recommended 3 models using the Moentrol valve. The 3 models did not look like the faucets we recently put in the sinks. I asked him about this Moen handle kit I found on Amazon and he wasn't 100% sure, but he thought it would work. It did work! It was a quick and easy install for my handyman. For a great price, I have a new, great-looking shower handle in my tub/shower!

sjoc: Simple, easy replacement for an older Moen Chateau Plastic shower valve handle. Works well. Metal handle with high shine chrome finish. Looks good. It has a logical plastic handle adapter with a stop limiter, so it sit solidly and works correctly. The design does scream "new" but it is neutral and does upgrade the original look by decades. A easy economical upgrade or fix.

Tone: The old handle broke. We were able to replace the adapter to the handle using this kit and didn't have to open a wall to replace more.

Amazon Customer: Works great if you want to update your shower faucet without actually having to install a new one. I switched out my old style giant plastic knob shower pull for this handle and it was very easy to install. It doesn't fit completely flush to the base as the old handle did but it's fine, it still looks great, much better than what was there

DE BeachDE Beach: So glad to not have that crystal anymore. So easy to install. The hard part for me was when I was replacing the insert, and you have to line it up like a stove knob to fit, except there's this white ring too and idk why but for the life of me I could not put them both on. I put the ring on first and then the other part so it maybe took all of just over 5 minutes to replace. The only "complaint" I have is that the crystal knob hid the reflection you see in the trim, it kind of blended in, whereas this one is hollow and when you look at it you can see in the cavity. Just never noticed it before and I'm sure I only noticed it because it's new. It almost gives the illusion of too much space between trim and knob. But it doesnt look like crystal anymore and that was the point. Missed the opportunity to clean the stem, ew.

Entropy: Replaced 1980's plastic moentrol knob perfect. Came in a generic package, but was easy to install. Does not come with instructions though but for those familiar with kitchen and bath hardware, it is easy to install. Just because you've replaced the knob with this handle, it does not pull out easily like a kitchen fault. Still need to yank pretty hard using the base of this handle, and not the arm of the handle in order to turn the water on.

Muskokaken: Really like the look of this, it is a heavy metal handle so has a solid feel. For some reason I was hoping it would have a "lever" feature that would allow it to rotate a bit as you pulled it out to turn on the water like a kitchen type faucet would...it is fixed and you have to pull it straight out, makes it a bit less ergonomic to use but seems all other options for these legacy faucets are the same. Wished it could be found in brushed nickel finish without large expense.

Amazon Customer: After reading many reviews, some questions were still not answered. So, I'll provide them.
Yes, this works with the Moentrol (push/pull system)
Yes, it is compatible with the 1225 cartridge.
No, it is not too heavy!
I replaced the cartridges in my Moentrol controls. A previous owner of the house had switched out the crystal knobs for an off-brand lever handle. It worked just fine with an old cartridge that wasn't well greased (and was hard to pull out). After replacing the cartridges, the handles were too heavy and fell to the 6 o'clock position and cold showers. We were concerned that the Moen 100224 handles 1. wouldn't fit and 2. would be too heavy and fall. A plumber even checked with someone and said they weren't compatible.
We gambled and won. The handles are great. We also replaced the escutcheon (Moen part 16090) and tub stop tube (LASCO 03-1695). Everything looks great and works perfectly.
For installation, there are no instructions, but it is fairly obvious what to do. Just note that when installing the handle onto the base of the handle (it comes in 2 parts), it needs to line up perfectly and may need to be adjusted a bit. Once it is lined up. the...

TJ: I purchased both the chrome and brass versions of this handle kit to replace standard Moen acrylic pull-out knobs  96797 . The finish is clean and attractive. (For a better view of the handle please refer to the image for kit  100657 ; it's the same lever with a different adapter for the Posi-Temp cartridge.) Assembly is straight-forward, but the cartridge stem might need to be rotated in one direction or another before the handle will slide on properly. I also put silicon lubricating grease on the plastic adapter so that it rotates more easily against the other parts. Be sure to screw the adapter tightly to the stem so the final assembly will be snug (but don't overtighten).

I can confirm a few points made in other reviews. First, this kit 100224 is designed to work with standard Moen cartridges  1200  and  1225 , not the  Posi-Temp cartridge . Second, the handle is metal but the adapter and brake are plastic. Third, the lever handle sticks further out off the end of the cartridge than the acrylic knob does, and the lever handle doesn't cover as much of the stop tube  10066 .
