With its simple application and superior results, Minwax Special Walnut Wood Finish Penetrating Stain is the perfect choice for any woodworking project.Avid Reader: This product was so easy to use. I cleaned the surface of my front doors before I used a rag to put the stain on and it went on very easily. The front doors looked good after the first coat but I let them dry overnight and put a second coat on and they looked beautiful. I had a wood trash container in my kitchen so I used it on that also and it looked great after as well. Will definitely use this product again as needed.

Randy Garrity: I like to torch all my lumber or most of it to pull out the wood grain.Just as I love this stain and the classic black transparent. This stuff works even better for both semi transparent and showing plenty of the natural wood grain. And the browns you get when torch wood. And the keep fine sanding the wood down to a finer grit then I finnish with steel wool 4 odd. Drys semi quick as long as you apply it in thin coats and I wipe it off semi quick. To get the desired look Im after. Then I will use a clean rag and buff it so by the time your down with this buffing .It sure wont take long for the boards to be completely dry. Then I live in phoenix arizona where its dry as a cracker.Boiled linseed oil drys fast here.

RyanRyan: This classic gray stain for wood finishes is stunning! I wanted a stain for a mantle I was working on, and I read online that Classic Gray 271 combined with Varathane English Chestnut would create the ideal grayish brown hue. And boy, did it really.
This stain exceeded my expectations; combining it with Varathane English Chestnut was the greatest idea someone has ever had. This stain is really light and emits a lovely gray tone; when combined with chestnut, it adds the ideal brown tone, and the combination just can't get better (imo).
I was a little nervous because this was my first time combining the two colors and staining can be really scary, but the stain turned out just how I wanted it, so I wouldn't change a thing!
The pictures I've included show the mantle stained with the two colors I blended and the Classic Gray 271 can, which appears semi-purple but doesn't apply really purple.
If you want a soft yet elegant gray, I wholeheartedly suggest this stain. Because of the lovely hues it emits, I'm sure I'll put this on wood by itself in the future. It would look amazing.

R. Morris: I bought a quart of this stain in "golden oak" to use for some dining room chairs that came as raw pine. (This happens to be exactly the color I wanted, but if you're buying online, I suppose you'll have to guess a little.) I applied the Minwax conditioner underneath as recommended for this type of wood, put on about two coats of this stain, and then applied a few coats of on top, all as recommended by the directions on this product.
Staining was definitely the easiest part of the whole project. I wore nitrile gloves and settled on using a blue shop towel to apply (and a new one to wipe off later) -- probably a choice some people will give me funny looks for, but it worked! I also tried a brush (hard to get enough stain on it, though good for getting into corners) and rag (probably what most people would use, but I didn't really have a good supply, hence the shop towel). Letting everything dry outside is definitely best if you can due to the fumes, to say nothing of the possible mess.
While the polyurethane is still curing (though dry to the touch), overall, I think the project turned out great -- and wanting to stain is what set this whole project in...

Sammie PSammie P: Absolutely LOVE the look of this stain! Perfectly black but still show’s details of the natural wood! Smell HORRIBLE so i very strongly recommend doing this outdoors or in a well ventilated area! It went on smoothly and i only required one coat! If you wipe your surface down after staining, use a darker cloth but otherwise, 10 out of 10!

Michael Brock Poyntz: Early American is my favorite wood stain and due to its popularity sometimes hard to find. I ordered online and had it in 5 days. Well priced for the quality image the end product, in my case a blanket ladder! I would order from this supplier again in a heartbeat!
