Mi-Teintes 12"X16" Fold-Over Pastel Pad with Assorted Colors

IndigoJane: This is excellent paper for the chalk-type pastels. The texture grabs the pastel, and it has a nice weight to it, also. It's not cheap paper, but the price is not unreasonable for the high quality of this art paper. I believe there are professionals who use this paper, so that's an indicator of the quality.

AndyGB: El papel es bueno y adecuado para pastel. Yo utilice óleo-pastel y funciona bien pero hay que trabajar mucho para meter bien el color, sin embargo es lo normal asi Que estoy satisfecha con este cuaderno. Probaré a extenderlo con aceite o barniceta o de plano usar óleo.

Amazon Customer: Awesome paper and great assorted colors. There is a smooth side and a rough side. The nice part is that you can put on a base smudge pastel stick for value color and then use a pencil for fine detail over that color. The tooth does hold the pastel well but I prefer the smooth side for fine detail. Wonderful paper! Enjoy!

Joanna D.Joanna D.: You can use either side of this paper depending on the medium you're working in. Back side or smoother side of the paper without the texture is very good for colored pencil.If you haven't tried doing colored pencil on tinted paper it's a lot of fun. You can use your lighter colored pencils to get some beautiful highlights, normally those pencils not showing up on white paper.

Bundle of paper has options for different colors, get only grays, earth tones, or a mix of colors.

E. Valero: The Canson Mi-Teintes is excellent paper for pastels and coloured pencils, and comes in a beautiful assortment of different shades. There are 2 different pad sizes; 9 x 12, and 12 x 16, and the sheets have 2 differently textured surfaces. Soft pastels and pastel pencils work really well on the textured side which has enough tooth to allow for several layers. The smoother side (back) works reasonalbly well for soft pastels but you will be limited with the amount of layers due to a less textured surface. However that side works beautifully with coloured pencils, and oil pastels.

Also note this paper is light-fast, acid-free, and reasonably priced. Although my paper of choice for soft pastels is Pastelmat, this is a far more inexpensive option that works well with several mediums, and the lovely colours available makes this an attractive alternative to the more premium priced paper. Recommended.
