Meross Smart Light Switch: Compatible with Apple HomeKit, Siri, Alexa and Google Assistant

ZJ: I have now installed several of them in my house for lights and bathroom fans. In general, these are easy to setup and do the job they are supposed to with no issues. As far as I can see, it’s the best price on the market for wifi switch with HomeKit support. My only complaint is that the screws coming with the switch do not fit the holes in my existing (old) electrical box - they are a bit too thick. I had to use the original screws from my old switch which made it impossible to install the new screwless wall plate - as the old screw heads are not flat. I ended up putting back the old wall plate as well. Other than that, everything went fine. I’m knocking down one star because of the wrong screw thread size. Hope the manufacturer will correct it for Canadian market. A little tip for connecting the first time: you need to make sure that your phone is on 2.4G wifi not 5G. In my case , I turned off the wifi extender near the switch and that did the trick.

Matthew Maxwell: I have a few of these switches and I really like them easy to install easy (usually) to sync to home kit.

I had a hell of a time with my latest switch turns out it was an apple an issue had to delete and redo my whole home in HomeKit.

David A VallettaDavid A Valletta: As per the faq needed to reset the breaker before it would pair with HomeKit. After that it worked as described. My only issue is that the back plate is thick plastic and the decor covers I have don’t fit well as a result.

Amanda: I only removed a star because once you have the caps on the wires, it is hard to fit it all back in the box! Once you’ve done one switch, the rest will be super quick! Very responsive and a great addition to a SmartHome!

JP: The Meross single-pole smart switch easily replaces a standard single-pole switch, using the same color-coded wiring as the switch you are replacing. This is an On/Off switch only - it does not dim. The switch responds very quickly to on/off commands via HomeKit and Siri. After a month of operation, it has been very reliable and easy to use.

Your wiring must have a neutral (white) wire - most homes built over the last 40 years have neutral wires. Once the wires are connected, re-install the switch to the outlet box. The back of the switch is deeper than the standard switch you just replaced, so it may take some wrestling to stuff the wires back in.

You can use the HomeKit app to connect the switch to your system, but you need to make sure your phone is connected to your home's 2.4 GHz WiFi signal only and NOT 5 GHz (the switch ONLY works with the 2G signal). Most WiFi routers are dual band, so this shouldn't be a problem. If confused, call your WiFi provider for advice.

If you are using your iPhone too can in the HomeKit code, turn off the cellular connection (in Airplane Mode) and connect to your home's 2.4 GHz WiFi ONLY, otherwise it won't connect. If you...

Mark WelkerMark Welker: tl;dr - Meross hardware easy to install, meross software is easy to use, Apple Home setup is more of a meh. Make sure you think about what electrical wires and space is available before buying these and while the Apple Home compatibility is good if you're already using it, it didn't add much value for an iPhone user who is using Amazon echos as my smart home hub / voice commands

As a disclaimer, I've been adding smart switches to an old 1930's craftsman home that has probably had a couple of electrical jobs done before I bought the house, and not all that surprised that the previous owners had done some interesting solutions, but that has for better or worse, made it possible for me to work though some of these modern era upgrades, and even since I started adding smart plugs and smart switches to the house, I've been loving it. I have had some previous generation meross products (some of their smart plugs) and while everything eventually gets added to my echo commands, it is nice to stick to some same platform parts to bridge the gap between hardware installation though its network setup before the final connection to Alexa.
