caiguar: These are good. I wouldn't say they are the best but work really well for the price. I have a masterbuilt gravity series 800 grill along with several others like Weber chimneys. I also use them to light my fire pit. They light good but you do need two at least to actually light the fire. In the fire pit(it's a large one) i use at least 3 or 4 scared to light at different points. I did try to use one on the gravity charcoal grill and would not light. The chimney also needs two to make it last and light enough charcoal to start the fire. Just keep that in mind. They do light right away and stay lit until they are fully consumed even in windy conditions. Overall these are good and good price even if you have to use two at a time.

Saintsea: I barbeque quite a lot throughout the year, rain or shine, and have just gotten tired of using lighter fluid for my charcoal. Not only is it getting more expensive, but I just hate having that smell of burnt fuel all over the neighborhood and even in my house. I tried using newsprint to light the charcoal, but that was not necessarily a better solution. After looking around for some paraffin cubes to use as a fire starter, I came across these fire starters from Melt Candle.

They are a combination of heavy wax and wood waste pressed into small squares. You just break off one square from a pre-scored sheet and light it with a match. They light easily and burn for 7-10 minutes before being consumed. Water doesn't seem to affect them and I have successfully started my BBQ in the rain. They are not entirely odorless when burning, but are much better than the name brand lighter fluid I was using before, and I can't detect any unusual flavor in my meats. Sometimes I could taste the lighter fluid.

These things are ideal for starting charcoal, taking camping, or keeping in your emergency kit. The squares cost about 10 cent apiece. My lighter fluid...

Amazon Customer: Not very impressed I thought I’d give them a try but won’t be buying them again as they are not as long lasting as the Zip fire lighters I normally use so I’ve used more which puts the cost up
