Amazon Customer: I had to read this book for a course study and oh my gosh!!!! It has great narratives from personal experiences. It also breaks down language hear A LOT in early childhood reading development. It explains a lot and even goes into detail of what goes on in the brain of a dyslexic person. I had to remove a star because it's just so freaking long and she repeats herself a lot. Yes, it is good information she's repeating but, must go faster!

Paul Spencer: Every elementary school teacher should read this book. Also, very helpful for parents of children with learning disabilities in reading/writing (dyslexia). It provides research backed explanations of what happens in the brain when we are reading and evidence based instruction on how to teach reading to all children and adults regardless of their learning status. Highly recommended.

Amazon Customer: Great information about the brain and how it works in strong readers and struggling readers. Some great ideas/advice for parents on how they can support their child. Throughout the beginning of the book, the authro kept referring to how in Chapter 18 she will show you "how to" help a child with reading dificulties. I was disappointed that the "how to" was to purchase a pre-packaged program.
