DM: I bought this lock because it was a recommended great training piece from guys in the lock sport community, which I’m new to. I’ve mastered all the store available locks but this one’s frickin tricky! I’ve had it over a month and still haven’t had success picking it. Try it out!

Amazon Customer: I got two of these to practice lock picking on as I've been told these can be difficult. Well.. They are difficult to pick. 7 pins and I'm pretty sure most if not all of them are security pins. Probably for the best given their intended use!

Danni R.: It's a 410 LoTo, with one key (retaining). Steel shackle, ball bearings and socket locking mechanism. Thermoplastic body. Brass core, 6 pin, all spools other than #5 which is standard. The core is un-sprung and slightly loose in the body which can be a new challenge for tension and false-set feedback skills learning. Paracentric keyway but can be picked with a 0.025“ well polished pick, but a 0.020-0.018“ works best for me. I have a few, one I kept stock, one I took apart and transplanted the core into an American A1100 body, and one I am turning into a cut-out learning lock. A good next step after Master 140D 4 pin spools and Brady brand 6 standard pin un-sprung core and Diyife aluminum 6 standard pin sprung core locks (certain Abus 72/40's 6 pin spool well sprung core locks which have multiple keyway core options, alternately).

jimbob: The lock is made of light plastic and metal. The product should only be used for what it was made to do. To warn people that the breaker should not be turned on and to help prevent it from being turned on. Good product. Recommended.

Not a Moose: A great intro to these locks is the Lockpick Lawyer's 'Master lock paradox' video, although I see he had similar questions about it's construction as others in the comments. The lock is made of strong thermoplastic to avoid conductivity in electrical workspaces and so it can be removed with a sledgehammer in an emergency. It's main purpose is to lock away dangerous and restricted equipment from curious workers and is therefore equipped with a decent 6-pin brass core with security spools and at least one serrated pin, so to avoid it being picked by a bored worker. It's locking mechanism is ball-bearing and therefore resistant to shimming. I am told most of these locks have 1 serrated pin on pin 5 and on the rest of the pins, spools. The core is a 'dead core' and has no spring-back mechanism.
These are a real challenge to pick and after a day of trying I still haven't managed to get it open. I'm even finding it difficult to set any pin or reliably get into a false set! Novices claiming to have picked this lock immediately either got very lucky with the bitting or are extremely talented (or are lying). My bitting was a quite aggressive high-low profile, so I have a real...

Sarugumo: Just to confirm other reviews on here, this padlock is meant to have a light outer shell body and only one key. It is designed to be attached to electrical switches, valves and other industrial equipment which needs to be isolated whilst someone works in an area of high risk. They lock the controls that activate the equipment and then take the single key with them.
This is meant for safety, not security.
With that out of the way, I bought this padlock to practice Locksport as this has a 6 pin core, with various security pins, which make it harder to pick. This makes it a good choice for an inexpensive lock, with a high security core, to refine your picking technique and advance to a higher level.
It is great for it's intended use and for Locksport training and I can happily recommend it for both.

Martin Dobson: When you need to Lock out and Tag out, this is it. The body is plastic so it conforms to most job-site regulations if it ever needs to be removed forcefully if a key is lost. I have not located a duplicate key yet in multiple units and the included stickers for identification are a nice touch. Must have for any tool kit.

Chris: Using them primarily only for the cores inside. This is one of the "better" masterlock cores for retrofitting other locks.
