Sarah F.: I own two of these filters and love them! They are very quiet and takes up less room than most HOB filter since it’s so slim and comes with the sponge cover for the uptake. I have them in betta tanks with shrimp and tetra had haven’t had an issue.

Amanda Goose: I love this filter, and I have one on all three of my tanks, but it does have its faults. Let me explain.

Pros: very quiet, which is a must for me as I have one of my tanks in the bedroom. Customizable, and keeps water clear. I like that the filter is clear so I can see if it's looking like the filter material needs a change.

Cons: after about 4-5+ years they run the risk of failing. By failing I mean leaking. This is a risk you take with all out of tank filters. It can be bad as it will keep pumping water and keep leaking till you realize. My solution to this was placing a dollar store black sheet pan under my tank, or my tanks stand, with a little alarm that goes off when wet. This alerted me when my filter started leaking and i was able to turn off and replace it before it truely leaked everywhere. For the price and longevity of use I'm not mad about it. It also can make a vibration noise where the inlet tube goes past the outlet water guide. I just placed a piece of filter foam between. Because it's clear it's possible to get algae growth. I painted the side closest to the tank black and left the rest clear so I can see why my filter media needs changing and have...

ASP: All'inizio era perfetto, dopo 15 giorni e pulizia costante si è ammosciato. Pagato poco, lo tengo come "muletto", per salvare i cannolicchi e pulire un poco.

Suzy: Bra produkt till akvariet

Sweden on Apr 13, 2023

X_TimberWolf_X: much too expensive to maintain as opposed to Aquaclears. $8.99-$9.99 every 2 to 3 weeks. that's $20.00 every 2 weeks to 3 weeks that's $240.00 dollars a year more if you change them more frequently.

this filter is made more for the aquarium people who just want to keep a couple of fish and have no time to spend on cleaning for a couple of hours every 2-3 weeks when the filter gets dirty. It's super easy to remove and replace filter media and clean the HOB it doesn't get faster or less work than that as long as you use their suggested filters. it's a simple matter of pulling out the cartridge and replacing it with a fresh one.

but for those of us that have multi aquariums and have the time to service our tanks and don't mind the DIY filter media needed to make these filters work better than they normally do I would suggest
Aquaclears instead.

This is why:
not enough room for reusable filter media easily and UGLY to maintain if you do use reusable filter media. not to mention that the internal flow of water around the reusable filters will not be as efficient as the manufactures filters simply just for the fact it was made for the cartridge type...

Andrea krierAndrea krier: The media could not be loaded.  So this filter is rather large for a small tank. I have a 3 gallon that is 18” long and only 8” high. I had to modify this filter a bit big for my tank to fit. Which is why I’m giving four stars. I do not like that the motor for it is on the outside of the filter and inside the tank where the water intake valve is. With how long it already is with the motor being on the outside of the tank, it was too long for me to put the sponge filter on and the intake hose. I had to cut the sponge and put it in the intake hole on the motor so it would fit and not kill any shrimp. I did put all my own filter media in it which is why I bought this filter because it has three large compartments so you are able to put media in it. I put a sponge, filter floss, carbon and ceramic and then purigen and chemipure in there as the day before I noticed a fishy smell, cloudiness and a red slime in the tank a day after adding fish. After 12 hours of running the filter my tank is SO CLEAR. The fish and shrimp are zooming around swimming much more than before and looking very happy. I’m impressed at how clear this filter and the media made this tank and how fast....

JessicaJessica: Appena arrivato. Oggi lo provo. Non so però perchè è senza scatola originale.

Inita BaerInita Baer: I was trying to decide whether to get the Fluval C2 or this Marina slim line model. I chose this model, because it is slim and unobtrusive and I like the clear color compared to the Fluval C2, which has that weird gaudy red basket inside. Also, the reviews are more positive for the durability of this unit compared to the Fluval C2, which has propeller noise and failure issues. The motor on this unit sits inside of the tank, which helps with noise dampening and cooling, so it won't overheat and fail. I also like that when the electric cuts out, due to storms or whatever, that the unit self primes and re-starts; in case I'm not at home to refill the reservoir back with water.

I dose liquid fertilizers in my tank (because I have live plants), so I didn't use the included carbon filter or the floss filter in the box. The carbon filter will remove the plant chemicals I'm trying to introduce into the tank, which defeats the purpose of dosing and the floss filter is an added expense I don't need, since I make my own floss filters. The right side of the intake filter is filled with the yellow Aquaclear foam to remove large debris, the center has Poly-fil sheets that are folded to...
