Clare O'Beara: Even the youngest kids who can read, can start to be greener and make their own choices. Through Luke's journey we see the harm done by discarded trash and the many better options which exist. Each page has a colourful picture, a rhymed few sentences, and underneath a small-print explanation with longer words. This may be helpful to adults.
I enjoyed this cheerful little read and I suggest it would go down well with a class or Scouts, or for a family discussion point. The main theme is giving the child agency, so they know it is okay to refuse a plastic straw or bottled water.
I downloaded an ARC from the author. This is an unbiased review.

Barbara Mojica: What a clever way to explain the concept of recycling to young children. Godsey uses a young boy presented in the guise of a superhero. At first, Luke is like most children who pay no attention to conserving the earth’s resources. When Luke notices trash all around him, he decides that he will become a part of the solution rather than the problem.
Luke shows his readers how to follow the three R’s: reduce, recycle and reuse. He discusses the problems of trash in the ocean, in our homes and in our schools. He talks about energy conservation tactics a child can practice like turning off faucets, being mindful of unnecessary electricity, and avoiding one-use plastics and paper. While the text is written in rhyme in simple language, the author includes teaching and discussion points at the bottom of each page. At the end of the book, a reflections page summarizes the content in the book and facilitates group discussion. This book is particularly targeted at the elementary school age child, but it is a richly illustrated and pleasing choice for a reader of any age.

Lieve Snellings: If you search for a children’s book that explains, what is our responsibility and what can we do, for the environment, then you have found the book you were looking for!
The illustrations in the book are wonderful.
The story s written in rhyme. It’s a nice, an easy to read narrative, that entertains and drawn the children's attention. I love the way that at the bottom of each page, the author explain more to the children (and adults) so they have a better idea of what is going on by pollution and what we all can do. The questions at the end of the book can be used as a good guideline for parents, teachers, caretakers, grandparents… to discuss with their kids.
While and after reading ‘Not for me, please! I choose to act green’ my first reflection was that because of this all, this book needs to be in the school program (6-9 y) everywhere, it is THE tool to use in schools.
Do you have it already in your school library? No, well go out and get it, you will not regret!

Turgut: Nice storytelling about how kids can contribute to the world‘s ecological health. Illustration and rhymes shows the delicate and hard work behind this book. As my kids were not able to read the story, I rate it with only 4 Stars now. Once the german version is out, kids will read the story by themselves and hopefully will start to practice Luke‘s advices. Then star #5 will follow.

Klare Empfehlung!

A Dad: A GREAT children's book that entertains and enlightens children, as well as adults. Maria Godsey uses clever rhyming, imagery and storytelling, wrapped in colorful and lively illustrations, to convey a simple, yet important message; responsibility starts with an idea, and one simple action and from there can grow like an acorn into an Oak. Not only will young readers identify with this wonderful book, but Mom, Dad, Teachers and all adults who read it are sure to find themselves smiling, while also doing some important thinking. "Not for me, please! I choose to act green," is a wonderful addition to any child's bookshelf. Can't wait to read more from this new author!

Amazon Customer: I have grandchildren that live in Europe, and they are very conscientious about recycling, reusing, and all the trash that is thrown away and finds its way into lakes and various places. My grandchildren who live in the United States are not as aware of recycling and reusing. I was searching for a book that would help my grandchildren be more aware of making the earth a better place. This is the perfect book to help children understand how recycling, reducing, and reusing are very important. The illustrations are great and the rhyming text is very easy for children to listen to. The interesting facts at the bottom of some pages really do help explain more to the children and answer their questions. All of my grandchildren love this book, including the ones that live in Europe. I highly recommend this book and will get a copy for each of my grandchildren’s classrooms.

JohnJohn: We had so much fun reading and discussing this book with our kids. We were amazed at how much they were able to soak in and learn. Already in the first days after, they are asking questions and more conscious of their choices and the impact they have on others. We also enjoyed the facts at the bottom of the pages. They really helped educate us as parents/adults. We find that the book even had a powerful impact on us. I strongly recommend this book for anyone who is interested in having an impact on the world around them and particularly helping their children discover the role that they can and should play in the world.
