The Madison Electric Products MSB3G Three Gang Device Box is the best electrical outlet box on the market, thanks to its superior packaging, easy installation, and high-quality build. Its extra-thick PVC wall material ensures maximum stability and rigidity, while its adjustable height allows for a perfect fit. This heavy-duty 42lb. box is also conveniently compact, making it easy to store.pballernyc: needed something easy to install without making such a large hole in drywall. this was super simple to install versus using a nail in gang box because can just use extended driver bit and install quickly! super thick material and believe in it's durability and ability to keep home safe in case there was ever a fire in the box itself. i recommend these over the new install blue box/nail-in gang boxes

loktai: Very nice, sturdy and easy to install with a drill vs a hammer and much easier to install than trying to fit your drill between studs even on a new work install but in this case you can install this in an existing wall if you get your cut in the right place next to a stud, way more sturdy than one that clings to the drywall for that application.

DoubleFaultDoubleFault: Their picture in the product description of the boss in the j-box that the outlet or switch screws in to. The other picture is how four of them actually are that I ordered. That is deceit on a grand scale. If yours are anything like mine were, where the boss threads either stripped out, or, the boss itself is broken from the housing, these probably won't last any longer than the one or many that you are replacing. "Designed by an electrician"... built in China. I gave it five stars so this information gets out to the consumer and to the manufacturer.

Dylan: I had a shallow depth box with 6 sets of 14/2 coming in.. and it was stuffed. I wanted to add a dimmer switch and there was no room for it.
Adding this box was easy. And the fact that it screws into a stud instead of using wings to attach to drywall leaves me confident that it won't break through. The builders also damaged the drywall around the box and used a king sized plate originally.
One tip is I would use a large flat head screwdriver and press in the romex slots you intend to use. That way the plastic tab in the center pops open making them easier to feed in.

richmk: I was ready to give this a great review as installing the box into the wall was easy and there is tons of room in the box. The problems for me started when I started to install switches and an outlet. The outlet is old but the switches were new. When installing the outlet into the box a screw head snapped off. Initially I thought it was just an old screw but then one of the new screws also snapped. I realized that the holes were not drilled deep enough so the screws bottomed out. I was able to get one out but the other was too deep inside the hole. I managed to drill out and use a larger screw temporarily but now I need to rip everything apart and start again.
If you get this test the holes before installing and drill out if needed.
Update: Ended up ordering another one as I can't find anything similar. Tested all the holes and they were all fine so guess I just had a bad one the first time round.

T H.: I needed to add a box in a 98-year-old lathe & plaster wall, and this was exactly the right solution. Cut the plaster and lathe with a multi-crafter tool (avoids breaking the plaster bond with the lathes compared to using a drywall or sabre saw), pre-trimmed the outer insulation from the end of 14-2 NMD-90, threaded it through the kind of strange clamp, positioned the box, screwed it in and bingo - not even any paint touch-up needed. It's nice that you can use the box itself to trace the exact opening on the wall. A lot of those metal rework boxes have bits that stick out further than the box sides, but this is all smooth with rounded corners. Keep the inside thickness of your wall in mind - this box is deep and narrow - 3 1/2 deep on the outside so fine for drywall on one or two sides of a 2x4 wall, but maybe not if you have lathe & plaster with a lot of plaster pushed through the gaps in the lathe. On the plus side there's lots of room for wiring (18.5 cu in).
But... The part I skipped over is the cruddy drywall screws that come with the box. The absolute cheapest, worst screws they could've included, and @#$ Phillips head, of course, so lots of cam-out unless you...

Peter A: This is a spectacular box to work with. It’s deep and very solid. I had no problems installing it to a stud inside the wall and wired a box with five different lines coming into it. The only negative I have is that it is tricky to sometimes feed the wires in and out of it. Besides that… I have no clue why this box is not sold everywhere. It’s a great deal.

Kansas Jack: having the fasteners accessible from the inside of the box is a great improvement allowing installation of a replacement box without damaging the drywall.
