Joseph Davis: For anyone who served in RVN. Very difficult to put down once started. Well written.

Amazon Customer: I give this book 4stars for the descriptions of terrifying battle and unmatched brotherly love that the author depicts. The Viet Name war was brutal and the men that fought it were caught up in something that would define their entire lives...or deaths.

Ice Pick Mike: Terrific book if you have served in Vietnam or in the Special Forces Regiment at any time to present. Some might believe this to be fiction, it is not. The crazy antics the author writes about when not engaged on a mission are real and continue to this day in SF, just don't get caught is the bottom line. I enjoyed the book very much and could feel his pain at the loss of friends, though his emotions are very subtle in the writing. Those that think this story is BS should read Teddy Roosevelt's the 'Man in the Arena', then they might understand the story. The book is funny at times and projects the fear, tension, and fury of combat. The author captures that feeling of the beauty and adrenaline rush of being alive after near death. The sky is definitely bluer and the grass greener when you get to walk away. DOL

GreenMarineFive-0: You will not find another book written in the same style! Okay well you can, but it is the other book written by the same author. He has a unique method of injecting his own personality and play by play thought processes, totally on the fly. You just don't find natural writers who can be simultaneously articulate while folding in their personal thoughts as they are occurring. He can create a sensation within the minds of readers that makes you feel like you are there at the time.
I haven't read many books on the wars of the late 60's and early 70's since the most recent wars and associated books came about. Vietnam though, was such a vastly different battlefield, terrain and for the average GI it was unique jungle territory never experienced before. This made for extreme combat in close proximity with the enemy. Hand to hand combat happened often, and such battles were multiplied by the discovery of hundreds of miles of underground tunnels. There were boobytraps, toe-popper mines, sharpened punji stakes coated with feces in hidden pits awaited the unwary troop.
The author shares many humorous incidents that were probably kept secret for some time after the war. He shares...

colin: Just as good as it's predecessor. The author is hilarious and a tad mad. How he survived all of it is beyond me but it makes for great reading.

Across the Pond: Excellent account of the brave, audacious and fearless men of MACV SOG and their recon teams. Operations “over the fence” takes a certain amount of courage and guts that most human beings do not possess. Moreover, to go back, day after day, hoping for it to be different but knowing deep down that it won’t be, is beyond comprehension. Excellent book. Looking forward to authors next book!

Barclay West: Told with honesty and feeling. The depth of caring for the. ”little people” , the Bru tribesmen who were left to their own devices against the NVA when the pull out came, is palpable. Much of the camaraderie of those who routinely “went across the fence”, is portrayed here, and the craziness that helped them get through it all, is painted vividly in the narrative. I couldn’t put it down....👍🏻.

Sebuka68: I’m not much for gratuitous bad language and childish, smart-ass remarks, but it all somehow fits in these two books.
