Mireille: I love a good fake marriage story, and in this one you get a twist in it with the memory loss. It was quite a great twist. Auley and Jetta were so precious together and it was nice to see Auley finally forget a little about his scars through Jetta’s eyes. His protectiveness of her was quite endearing. Seeing almost all characters from previous books is always nice, and really, I say it every time, but I can’t get enough of this family! They are so damn loveable.
I think it’s safe to say we are all impatiently waiting for Rory’s book to see how it will go for him since he seems to always be the one to keep people on the "right" path (some would argue it’s the wrong one). Lynsay Sands novels are always full of humorous moments and there are always some murder attempts and I enjoy trying to guess who’s the culprit. It’s mostly always the craziest people ever... I would punch them all, this book was no exception haha!
Anyways, always fun to read and if you liked the previous books in this series, you’ll love this one as much!

JWN: I enjoyed reading this book for a 2nd time. I like how Aulay and Jetta got along and were attracted to each other right from the beginning. Even though he was pretending to be her husband while she has amnesia, there weren’t any angst, luckily and the reveal didn’t lead to feelings of betrayal. They continued to care for each other throughout the book. Aulay is so sweet to her and he took good care of her.
The plot was interesting and had me guessing on what Jetta was trying to escape and what her background was before her amnesia. I enjoyed having all the MC’s from the previous books in this series reunite. The big reveal of who the culprit behind all the attempted murders was rather intriguing and a nice twist.

Mary K: While I enjoyed this read, I found the use of the "Scottish" slang annoying. The main characters are supposed to be Lords and Ladies who would be better educated than the mass so I doubt their vernacular would be the same as that used by servants; and yet that's exactly how everyone spoke. While I realize it's difficult to portray a Scottish accent in print, I still think there should have been some differentiation between Lord and commoner.
The story itself was predictable and had the same theme as the other books in the series.

E. Day: Greatly enjoyed this installment of Highland Brides. It’s one of the funnier of the series and lets us get to know Aulay and Rory (and even Alick) better. I have to say Aulay’s now one of my favorite Buchanans. Of course, I like them all, but if I had to rank them… Aulay’s right at the top of the list. We know from previous books that his facial scar has left him a bit hopeless about ever winning a wife, but in this book, he meets someone who thinks the scar is rakish rather than repellent and something that saves him from being too beautiful.
As the book starts, the anniversary of his twin’s death is almost here. Aulay has retreated to the family lodge to suffer his annual melancholy away from his family’s annoyingly loving interference. The lodge has been rebuilt (due to events in book 4) close to the seashore and Aulay plans to go fishing. As usual, Alick is slightly clueless and tags along. When they reach the beach, Aulay spots something floating in the water. It turns out to be a woman strapped to the broken mast of a ship. She’s half dead with terrible head wounds (see strapped to mast during horrible storm) but she’s conscious enough to smile and...

Amazon Customer: Another hit with a highland romance by lynsay Sands. Not her best, not her worst, still highly enjoyable. I’m a big fan of Lynsay Sands and have read almost all of her books. This book compares with the better ones...though I can’t think of a bad one I’ve read either...after I read this one though, I did purchase the rest of the books in series I didn’t own for full price...if that says anything about how I enjoyed her book. I usually just wait til they go on sale because to me, $6.99-$7.99 is to much to pay for a kindle or ebook... I only pay full price if it’s one I know I will reread again and again. Very good series.

lisa: This is Lynsay Sands at her most entertaining in a non stop mystery/romance. It’s also very funny thanks to hero Aulay’s large family who hang around commenting on his love life. When Aulay and his brother rescue Jetta from a shipwreck, she hints that her family want her dead before lapsing into unconsciousness. After Jetta finally comes around she has no memory. Besotted Aulay calls her Jetta because of her beautiful black hair. Jetta also seems besotted by Aulay. Ignoring his scarred face she assumes he is her husband because he is so caring.
Lynsay Sand’s novels always have many convenient head injuries. Highlander’s Promise may break the record. Poor Jetta has her head bashed in so many times she could be a rugby player. That said, this is a very sweet romance. Aulay is rejected by his fiancée after getting his face slashed badly, so is naturally pretty depressed when he rescues Jetta. The blossoming relationship between them is touching, and funny as Jetta tries to do wifely things to a man who is not really her husband. The mystery is good too, not an afterthought as in most HR. Jetta has brief memories but not enough to know who is she or why she is afraid...

Suzanne Rice: This was my favorite of this series and the best, in my opinion. So, I had to look at the one and two star reviews. I was surprised to see that there were any. One said that the characters lacked humor. Well, I don't know what book that person read, but I laughed throughout this book. Another said the story was disjointed "not very easy to decipher." Uhhh...what were they trying to decipher? It was a pretty straightforward story, not time-travel or flashbacks that might be confusing, just people going along linearly through time! I really enjoyed this book. Like I said, I laughed a lot as I read this book. The characters were intelligent, and I really liked that the female lead character just fell head over heals for Aulay and didn't even get mad at him when he revealed the truth. She was very understanding and also smart. The only thing that bothered me a little, and I don't recall seeing this much before in one of Lynsay's books, are the two anachronisms. One character was "red as a tomato." Well, tomatoes are a New Wold food, so a medieval English lady would not think of herself as red as a tomato. Also, the phrase "trussed up like a turkey" is used. Again, turkeys are a New...

Mary Heron: Out of all the Buchannan brothers Audlays story is the one i have most been looking forward to. Horribly scarred in a battle which also saw his twin brother die Audlay then had to deal.with his betrothed threatening to kill herself if she was forced to marry such a monster. Audlay withdrew from everyone with the exception of his brothers and sister, only interacting with people again following the death of his father when he became Laird Buchannan. His family could never make him see that while his injuries had been very difficult to look at at first over time the scars had faded a lot and did not detract from his good looks, that he still had a lot to offer a woman, While he was determined to live a bachelor and !et one of his brothers chi!dren inherit the Lairdhood. So imagine his surprise one day when he finds a beautiful young woman adrift in the ocean who looks at him and declares him her Angel sent from Heaven just for her.
