Cynthia: The story had a slow start for me but I'm glad I didn't give up on it. I decided to try this book because it was about horses. I got so much out of this book and I'm glad I stuck with it and read the whole book. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the trilogy.

Kat L.: I must start off by saying that I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about how animals impact our lives, and how we can learn so much from them if we are open, attentive and meditate on what we observe/learn. It also shows the importance of being authentic. A truly wonderful book with many life lessons!
Being someone who has enjoyed horses all their life, but from a distance (as I've never owned any and only rarely had opportunities to interact with them up close - although every single encounter has been quite an experience), there are a few concepts that might be more difficult to grasp if you're not a horse rider. I found myself getting lost in trying to understand the whole "chest opening" part of Am and Fin's training together. I don't remember it being explained in much detail, so it's hard to imagine (I tend to visualize what I'm reading) the how and why of it all, even though it's a major aspect of the story. The only other thing I found a tad irritating is the dialogue is written exactly as if it was spoken, word for word - "Yes. That's it. Come on girl, yes. You're doing good. That's right, keep going." etc. - dialogue is dragged out sometimes...
