Dan: I love this pen. At first I thought the weight and size was to much but after getting use to it, I find it to be a better fit then a standard pen. Great writing instrument!!

Shelsie Thomas: As soon as you pick up this Bastion, you just know how nice of a pen it is. Every one of my customers that use it for signatures always drop it at 1st because of the weight...but they immediately light up and say "wow thats a good quality pen...Bolt-action!!!". Always writes like a dream.

Temujin: Of course, my script is only as good as the cartridges when writing with a ballpoint, however, I enjoy well-engineered devices with moving parts, so this pen appeals to me. It is quite heavy--which some might object to--however, aluminum versions of this pen are available if weight is an issue. For me, it is a joy to hold and write with and the action is positive, opening and closing with a satisfying snap.

The black carbon fiber barrel is also beautiful and smooth to the touch. The only slight issue is that the barrel and the screw-in point-side cap do not align precisely. That’s the part I hold when I write so it detracts a bit from the experience.

I recommend both this pen and the mechanical pencil as well.

Scott: Just wanted a really nice pen for paperwork at work, while this is rugged , heavy feeling and built to last it's already showing signs of wear or going gray on each end the pen at only a couple weeks old.

When it arrived the bolt was quite... Gritty feeling, so I added small a drop of gun oil in the bolt and played with it a few times to spread it about a little which fixed this issue. But I personally don't think it's worth the £58 I payed.

Adam G.: I like the pen a lot. In a military environment, it has held up decently well, other than what I mention in this review. The color of the metal has somewhat faded over time due to it's daily usage, but the carbon fiber has only sustained one scratch. the carbon fiber section seems to be fairly good material and is sturdy. When I use it, it gets a lot of comments, especially when others borrow it. I use it on a daily basis, as my primary writing utensil. It's been dropped a couple times and the tip of the housing itself could be a bit more resistant to bending. I've had to straighten out the opening where the ink stick actually comes through a couple times due to the tip deforming, not allowing the ink stick to pass through. If you use the pocket clip, the screws holding the clip itself will loosen up fairly quickly. I wish the clip was recessed into the pen body and had a better attachment method so it couldn't rotate around with the oversized screw holes. This would prevent the screws from loosening and falling out, which has happened to me a few times in the last couple weeks. Luckily, each time has been while it's in my pocked, so the one remaining screw fell into my pocket and...

John: I want to give it 5 start. It is a lovely thing that I very much enjoy. However it must be stated that it is expensive, but I paid so my choice, and it is VERY heavy. This means your hand wrighting will suffer while your getting used to it but also your hand will fatigue quickly. But, it really is a lovely thing to own and I'm happy with it,,,, it's just taking a while to get used to.

Arkas: Carbon fibre is quite unusual to see on a pen and this real matt finished carbon fibre looks very nice too, mine did have a green fleck stuck in the resin but this is normally hidden by the clip. The clip does move a little bit around the join but not enough to cause me any concern. The bolt has a nice feeling once worn in although initially rough, it also has quite a loud 'Chick-Chink' sound which can be both satisfying but also avoidable if you want it to be quiet, not as slick as my Tactile Turn pen's bolt but it has a different feel overall anyway and at a much more affordable price. The bolt unfortunately cannot be disassembled so I would try to keep this pen away from anything like sand or dirt which may get stuck inside it. When I first recieved it the tip felt too easy to unscrew but it has gotten tighter since and hasn't fallen off, it is also slightly wider than the CFRP body but this is not too bad. It is also a very heavy pen, perhaps my heaviest and the long taper on the tip makes it a bit hard to hold on to sometimes but not too bad once you get used to it but I couldn't use it for more than notes. Overall Tactile Turn pens are a huge way ahead in terms of quality...
