Lundberg Family Farms Organic Short Grain Rice

Pj larson: Short grain brown rice is not in any of our 3 grocery stores. I had bought two other brands previously, one had bugs and the second brand stuck together even if rinsed well before cooking. I tried this one and love it! Rinsed it once, cooked according to directions and it turned out great. No sticky rice, tender and tasty. Will order it from now on.

Danno and Avey: I already wrote one review about White Rice, now it's time to talk Brown rice. We really like Brown Rice in our household... and Lundberg makes some pretty darn good rice, an added bonus being that they deeply respect the environment and sustainability.

In terms of picking Long or Short grain, either is good. The short grain is going to be a little meatier than the long grain, and doesn't fall apart as quickly in stews and sauces. My wife likes to use this rice in particular in fried rice, since it holds its shape pretty well, and adds a nice roasty flavor.

This rice is priced comparably to the generic/bulk options in local grocery stores, and is the perfect amount to last a family of two over a month or so.

We will definitely be buying it again!

CMac -Amazon Addict!: Very yummy! I love that it's creamy like regular aborio rice, but you get the extra benefits of having the brown rice! It does take longer to cook just like normal brown rice does, but we pop it into our pressure rice cooker and in 20 mins. it comes out 100% perfect! I'm really looking forward to making rice pudding with it since our dinner dishes have come out so great!

Elizabeth Houck: This rice is the best! It's got a very chewy texture and a lot of flavor for a rice. I can't buy any other brown rice except this kind now - the others just don't compare! It's really hearty and works great just on its own or with a sauce on top. It does take a while to cook (45 minutes) so if you're used to instant rice you may have to be a little patient with this one. Also it's easy to over cook and doesn't quite taste right if you do over cook it so you have to mind it a little more but it's absolutely worth the effort!

Helene Knott: I have a passion for rice in general and usually have all sorts of rice on hand for my culinary explorations. Over the years, I have found I prefer this short grain brown rice over regular or even Basmati Rice. The flavor is more nutty but what I really like is the texture. It has a wonderful 'bite' to it sort of like the way perfectly cooked al dente pasta feels when biting down on it. I like this short grain brown rice when first cooked but also as the base for fried rice the next day so I always make an extra large batch just to have the leftovers. It also reheats better than standard brown rice if you want to simply reheat (not fry) it.

And now a word about the producer - Lundberg. I have been buying Lundberg rice for decades, they are a rice grower from California and offer a wide variety of rices and rice blends you can find at many supermarkets (their Wehani rice which is a rough red rice is divine!). This particular batch of short grain brown rice I just bought from Lundberg on Amazon is non GMO and eco-farmed in an environmentally sustainable way.

I normally have this short grain brown rice on hand, I keep it in the refrigerator as brown rice can turn rancid...
