delump: I've only used one and sharpened 6 mower blades. Not that that's anything great, but they are durable enough to handle that chore. I'm sure I'll get several more blades sharp before I need to replace it.

The price was affordable and I'm happy with the purchase.

A few years back, I saw a flapper wheel for the 1st time at my welding supply shop. So, I bought one... they were 14 bucks each! Like the salesman said I would, I loved it. The design performs better than you would expect. All the pads I've used cut well without gouging your metals, this saves time when finish work is being completed. I was concerned about life expectancy of this unit but it perfoms close to the 14 and 15 dollar wheels I've used. One thing I'd like to see is the threaded nut built to pads center for faster change out.
Flapper wheels are not going to replace all grinding wheels. You never want to grind out a slot on metal where the pad kind bind and it will not cut... I have 6 or 7 cheap Harbor Freight 4.5 inch grinders setup on my cart since I'm not a commercial user. Financial it makes more since than having 150 dollar grinders the 20$$ grinders work just as well . I have a normal thick grinding wheel,cut off wheel, sand disc,wire wheel, and a few flapper setups with different cutting grits. Besides fighting with cords its...

av: I love these Flap Disc 4 1/2 Inch grinding/sanding wheels. They leave a really smooth working surface on metal, and are perfect for giving welded pieces that nice finished look. My only complaint is that they don't last long, which is particularly disturbing when you pay >$4 or $5 each for them. Buying 20 at a time brings the cost each WAY down. So now I don't think twice about using one to make a project look much better. It is a fantastic value, and the quality is indistinguishable from other sources. Great buy!

HelloHello: Ok, I have read the reviews on here, some reviews were about being cheap and not worth it, and those reviews almost turned me away from buying these. But I reconsidered just because they were cheap. Do they last as long as the expensive ones, nope. Are they as thick as the expensive ones, nope. Do they work, yes absolutely! Were they as cheap as I thought, no. Honestly they beat my expectations. Iron working is just a hobby for me and not an 8 - 12 work day. In my case they worked great. I took a bunch of old used rusty horseshoes, cleaned of all the rust on 20 of the worse shoes imaginable. I used a good amount of force at times, and even caught the side of the disk a few times. They didn't grenade like I expected, and one disk did all 20 shoes, there wasn't much grit left when I was done, and went in the garbage can when I was done. Overall, I really like these. Plus, you can't go wrong with the price. I will purchase again in the future. 40 disks for about $32, not too bad at all!! (PS, this was a fun Christmas project for my daughter and me!)

K. Plaskocinski: Initially got this to remove Deck It product off the deck of a home recently purchased. The deck was all scaly and bubbly, product wasn't properly applied I'm guessing. Got the grinder out and added a pad and like magic I was down to bare wood. Unfortunately my knees are not designed to crawl around and do a 12x16 deck and after thinking about restaining, etc we put in a trex deck. But wait, the deck had a skirt around the base that also need sanding so off the pieces came. One by one I "quickly" was able to get to bare wood with these pads. You have to be careful as you can get uneven swirl marks which would have to be smoothed out with a hand sander,etc. I got the hang of it and was able to keep swirl marks to a minimum. The pads are very durable if you don't hit a nail. If you just want to quickly get to a clean base to start over painting, etc. these are your go to pads. I wasn't to concerned with swirl marks but if you are a belt sander might be better. Belts may be much more costly also the grinder is lighter and easier to handle, just my thoughts.

Shane DucsharmShane Ducsharm: For the price they're okay, but since they're less than half the cost of some, they only last half the amount of time as you can see from the included pics, they have half the amount of material. So in the long run you're not saving anything UNLESS you're just a hobbiest that doesn't do a lot of steel clean up then these are perfect, as they do work. I suggest getting the assorted pack as it comes with 40, 60, 80 and even 120 grit.
