Alan H. Jordan: This book is a chronological recounting of a long, tedious journey. It's filled with lyrical descriptions of places, people, and relationships. If I were an adventurer who might one day take such a journey, I'm sure I would have rated it 5 stars.
I read the book in three days and bookmarked many passages to reread.

Mia Allen: I truly enjoyed this adventure with its humor and mishaps and unbridled admiration for nature, people, food, and South American culture.

Cheryl R.: I am sad that I have now read all of Anna’s books. This one was again as good as all others. I so enjoy them and am ready for her next.

Amazon Customer: I loved Anna’s humor, honesty and down-to-earth writing style. Whether or not you ever plan to bike like these 2 did it’s a great read and I learned geographical things and I found new places to look at and view on YouTube! I loved the book!

karen goodale: Anna’s books are all very honest. I love that you feel like you are her best bud and are getting the real scoop - good, bad and ugly. And hilarious. I have read all her books and loved them all. My favourite books to read before bed for exceptionally happy adventure dreams!

Al Kingfisher: I loved the way Anna doesn't romanticise this adventure. She tells it how it is, with all it's ups and downs. A true test of a new friendship and illustrates how tough and resilient women can be.

Kasey's Book Hoard: "Fernweh and Heimweh – two German words which describe the longing for the road and the longing for home. I knew full well that it was part and parcel of any adventure to be caught between the two, and that day I was firmly stuck in the middle."
I don't know if I think McNuff is brave or crazy. I'm leaning toward a bit of both. This book didn't encourage me to see South America and it didn't make me want jump on a bike and ride somewhere, BUT it did show me what a friendship really can withstand and how valuable communication is.
So, McNuff, if you read this. Whether you are brave or crazy (or a bit of both ... in Starlord's voice), you seem to be one amazing friend. I hope all of your adventures are just as wonderful.
Read this book. It's a winner.

bernadetteandrew: i'm a pretty avid reader of cycling adventure books, but this book was a bit of a departure. mostly the books are written by men, and detail daily distances, towns passed through, how tough each day was, and are often written almost as a diary.
Anna's book is so different - yes it's chronological, but not a monotonous day by day telling. it does describe the scenery, and very well too (the photos on Anna's website brought to mind her descriptions in the book). and it does describe the hardship. but it's so much more than that.
it describes the friendship, it's ups and downs, warts and all, of Anna and Faye's relationship as they face daunting challenges, comedic moments, and moments of sheer terror over many months in each others company.
more than anything it's their relationship that defines the book - and it's all the better for majoring on that, often overlooked aspect - and it means the book is about so much more than 2 women riding the Andes, although, somehow, they did that too.
