Amazon Customer: Compact folding design uses no space in my van! I use it to move my tool bag, and "Pack-outs" in and out of highrises when doing service calls! Handles the weight of my gear without problems! Stair? Curbs? Uneven surfaces? Still no problem taking the impact and the weight! Wheels have not buckled after a year like other models!

The Steel Maxi-Mover Lightweight Folding Truck I received weighs in at 11lbs 3oz. A bit less than advertised.
From the folded position, a push of the lock button allows the user to extend the handle upward and lock it in. Then, with your foot, completely lowering the nose-plate to 90 degrees extends the wheels rearward.
A narrower version would be nice, but he 7inch wheels dictate the 19inch width. Together, wheel dia and width are a good size for stability on uneven surfaces, bumps and steps. Smaller wheels would make bumps, bumpier and steps more difficult. (on a side note, there are no rails to allow for dragging the truck up to the next step)
There is some flex of the nose-plate when load isn't against back rails/handle. So, make sure your load is as far back on the nose-plate as possible to prevent over-stressing the plate.
Only downside to these lightweight folding hand trucks is there's no room for your hand or fingers between the handle and tall loads. If that's a problem and your fingers a getting crushed, the load is probably too heavy or your fingers are just too delicate for the job.

D. EvansD. Evans: This thing is BURLY! For a compact, lightweight, easy to store handtruck it can haul *anything* you can reasonably throw at it.

I read a ton of reviews, including the Most Helpful ones at the top, and decided that this would be the handcart for me. We then went through a house move easily, mostly moving modest stacks of boxes, and put it away.

Then a tree fell on my house. So I cut the trunk into 300lb sections and carted those through the yard. No problem! Then I found an old i-beam in the creek behind our place, so I pulled it out with a winch and handtrucked it to the curb for scrap pickup. No issues!

These are not exaggerations, these are literal experiences. I put a 600lb section of steel i-beam on this thing, wheeled it across gravel and then up a hill. I felt like I was going to die if it tipped over, but it handled great. No groaning, no protest from the wheels, no bending, barely even any scratched! Unreal.

My only complaint is that the wheels are a little high when it's just standing, so you have to tip it pretty far over to get it to roll. If you're moving something tall and heavy (e.g. steel beams, stacked boxes) that can make it somewhat...

BlueJacket: I’ve owned several of these foldable hand trucks. All were fairly inexpensive (~$40-65) and all boasted a weight limit of over 100 lbs. But no matter what I did to ensure survivability, they’d break. Sometimes the quick release mechanism would fail, a wheel would collapse, and the handle on the last one I owned literally bent and broke while toting a 45 lbs. personal safe. I was furious. So, I went on a search for “a better mousetrap”. Found it with this hand truck!

For starters, it’s heavy duty, about twice the weight of any other collapsible hand truck I’ve owned. But the reason for it is that the handle rails are STEEL, not another, weaker alloy. The handle release seems quite stable and strong; solid spring tension and a positive-locking mechanism. I can’t verify it without disassembly, but the wheels seem to ride on actual bearings, rather than bushings.

It is slightly taller, when collapsed, but in light of the fact that when extended for use, I don’t have to bend at the waist in an awkward position to use it (I’m 6’0”), that doesn’t bother me. In fact when fully extended and upright, the handle sits about mid-abdomen, making it a...

Bob Smith: This dolly is an excellent piece of equipment. It folds up flat and small and easily fits into the trunk of a car small car. It would also fit easily in the back seat, or on the floor in the back seat. It can be lifted with one arm, so it is very easy to get it in and out of the trunk. To use it, you simply pull down on the platform which causes the wheels to pop into place. Then press a button and extend the handle and you're ready to go. It takes literally 5 seconds to go from totally flat to ready for use.

We moved a 20" tube TV today. This thing weighed a ton and was pretty deep. I was concerned that the base of the TV would extend too far beyond the edge of the platform (and possibly fall off), but the platform on this hand-truck is very deep. The base of the TV extended right to the edge of the platform with none of it hanging in the air, so that gives you an idea of how deep it is. Two of us were able to roll the TV up three flights of stairs very easily. We didn't even tie the TV down... we just set it on the dolly and rolled.
