Libertyware Mushroom and Egg Slicer with Sharp Stainless Steel Blades

RobG: I bought this product five years ago to slice fresh mushrooms. It worked flawlessly until recently when one of the blades broke. It’s a little bit pricey, but well worth it for the convenience of being able to slice those large, fresh mushrooms a lot faster, and safer than I can do it by hand.

Rach: This is the best for cutting mushrooms and fingers. Nice and sharp. Wish I had bought this years ago because it just cut my work in half.

Anthony Homer: I thought the search for an egg slicer was over - the "string" type slicers can't handle mushrooms and the serrated blades on other types of slicers are difficult to clean...However, as other reviewers noted, the width of the cutting blades for this one, if you aren't cautious how quickly you are slicing, have a tendency to smash rather than cut....This slicer could handle mushrooms and in the past I had successfully sliced radishes I guess this time one was too dense and managed to bend one of the cutting blades :( I haven't decided if I will repurchase or bend the bent blade off and perpetually have one slice always thicker than the rest.

A. Gray: I was excited to get this slicer but the design is terrible.. I chose it because it had blades rather than wire. It would be nice if it were bigger and the blades went completely through the egg. It doesn't so you have to pull the egg off and pieces break off the egg into the slicer. It is so small even regular large eggs barely fit You can forget about jumbo eggs, they wouldn't fit at all. I used it on strawberries and it worked well. Use a quick motion so they dont squish. I haven't tried mushrooms yet, but again you won't be able to do anything larger than 2 inches or the sides will squish it. It's round so turning it is of no benefit. Miss my old wire one that was a lot bigger but finally broke after 20 years.

Update: I've been using this slicer for a month now. I really, really don't like it. I have to use my thumbs to keep the egg pushed back or it slides forward and gets squished. I usually end up with egg pieces instead of slices no matter how careful I am. I eat a hard boiled egg sandwich every morning so this gets used daily. I've used it on warm and cold eggs. Very, very disappointed. In fact, I just ordered a different slicer. I hope...

Mr. Tasteful: My son broke our previously reliable wire egg slicer trying to slice strawberries. For a long time, I have wanted a slicer with blades that could deal with eggs, mushrooms, and strawberries without having to buy, wash, and store multiple kitchen gadgets. You know the drill.
I happened upon this one: good reviews, dishwasher safe, stainless steel blades and figured it would be a good purchase. Just got it today, in fact. Pot-metal frame, but that's okay since slicing eggs won't exactly test the structural integrity too badly.
A couple of times a week, my wife like to head to the gym or whatever, and will eat rather late. She absolutely loves a good Cobb Salad, so it was time to boil a few eggs. This slicer absolutely destroyed the egg, turning the yolk into mashed-potato mess, and shredding the white almost beyond usability and recognition. Lots of egg was stuck in between the blades that I had to poke out with a knife and brush. Abject failure!
The only reason I am not returning it is I want to see how it works with the aforementioned strawberries and shrooms. In any event, looks like I'm doomed to have two slicers in an already-crowded gadget...
