Al Bud: I have three Levoit air purifiers in the home. I clean them (vacuum) when they get full. I decided that they lasted a long time and replaced them after 1-1/4 years. I now this is longer than recommended but they work great. Some competitors seem to need replacement after a few months. Yes, they are cheaper but do not work as well for life. Highly recommended replacement filters.

J. Bell: I have two dogs and two adults living in a one bedroom apartment. We were constantly burning candles because even though we're very clean, the place had a bit of a "dog smell." I decided to get two air purifiers, one for the bedroom and one for the open living room/kitchen area.
After just a few hours, there was a noticable improvement! Now when I walk in from outside, I don't notice a dog smell at all!
I also know it works because a few weeks ago I started noticing the dog smell again. A few days later, the replace filter light turned on. Replaced the filter. Back to no dog smell!
HOWEVER -- read the instructions. It's VERY easy to use, but I didn't know I was supposed to gently/carefully vacuum the filter regularly. My filter probably would have lasted longer had I done that. I plan to clean it monthly going forward.
