Nicole: I really enjoyed this build, but the piece count is a little misleading, and for the price I found that to be disappointing.

It says there were 962 pieces but between 100-200 pieces were the little blue pieces to resemble the water that you just dump in the bottle. Mine was also missing a couple pieces, but I was able to hide the area or use extra pieces that were provided.

10/10 would recommend this build, but there aren't as many build-able pieces as it claims, so in my opinion the price is a little steep.

Matt Holzman: My son was eager to spend some of his savings, and decided to utilize my Amazonian connections to procure this Lego set. Once built, it does look pretty sweet, however, as with most Lego, I find them to be quite expensive comparatively to what you get. The "bottle" itself is slightly smaller than your standard 750ml bottle, and I have contemplated swapping it out for him with a real glass bottle (using the glass scribing, hot water/cold water trick). The ship is tiny as a result of the size, but has pretty good overall detail. I recently was made aware that this kit has the single highest piece count put in a single step, during building, of any other lego set... pretty neat, yah? well, don't bee too excited about that, it's simply pouring the little blue bead like pieces in that represent the water...

Johnny: I love this set. It's an awesome idea. Sure it's "low detail", but what do you expect from Lego BRICKS? I find it adds to the charm. The ship is well designed. The masts were a bit of a tight fit and a bit fiddly when it came to build the bottle around them. But when everything was adjusted, it fit and I was able to assemble the bottle properly This IS considered and "advanced" build, after all. As for the size, it's a nice size. It's about the size of a 26oz bottle. I do recommend wearing gloves while touching the clear pieces to avoid any smudges.

Has to be one of my favourite sets, even if it's a "decoration". The price is a bit steep, but I looked passed it after seeing the size of the finished build. Keep the great ideas coming, Lego. I love this line.

JustAnotherConsumerJustAnotherConsumer: Absolutely beautiful Lego. Once assembled, it is really pretty to look at. Serves as a nice decor anywhere you place it.

In terms of assembling, it is not hard but do have to be mindful of some of the transparent pieces that make of up the bottom of the bottle. Once you got it wrong, it still works and really hard to find out. You only realize something wrong when you miss pieces elsewhere.

One thing I can say though, Lego almost never miss pieces. When you suspect you some pieces missing, go back and look closely of the completed steps. You might have put some pieces incorrectly.

This is one of the best Lego pieces I think just because of the home decor aspect.

My 3 Cents: This lego set is a really great display piece. Part of the LEGO ideas series, meaning a fan designed it and got the lego community to vote for it to be manufactured.

I bought this knowing my son would like it. I didn't know how the build worked without reading reviews before ordering it (or before dropping it on the floor when cleaning his room...warning, careful when dusting around this! - it may fall apart if you even look at it the wrong way.) The premise is that you first build the stand. Then build the boat, build part of the bottle, attach the boat to the bottle and then finish building the bottle around the boat. The bottom of the bottle is simple enough to put together and is sturdy. Attaching the ship to the bottle and having it stay in place in the bottle without the ship falling part is tedious. Attach it to the bottom and the bow falls off. Try again and a mast or two comes loose or spins around. Try again and the stud falls off the bottom of the bottle where it attaches together. After its attached together, building the rest of the bottle around the boat also has to be done with care so that you don't knock parts off the ship. Probably the most fiddly set...

Kate S: The ship is very solid and sturdy and I love the printed flag details, triple masts and the cannon with covers. I do wish there were more details on the ship (such as more realistic cannon and an anchor) and I don't really know what the red and green thing at the stern of the ship is supposed to be. The water pieces are a lovely colour and really stand out against the lovely brown of the ship and bottle. I greatly enjoyed the challenge of building the bottle, especially the bottom, which was complex due to the many small clear pieces, yet still relatively easy to put together. The cork and seal details are quite unique and put a polished touch on the bottle. I do recommend attaching the top of the bottle to the middle and then attaching the neck to the entire thing, though; when trying to attach the top to the neck and then attaching the entire piece to the bottle, I ended up breaking up the front of the ship and the the entire top of the bottle. The cradle with compass detailing, globes and nameplate adds a classic and authentic touch to the model and it was complex, yet enjoyable, to build. I do wish that the bottle would attach to the cradle to keep it from moving when picking...
