Learn German with Short Stories: Improve Your Reading and Listening Skills with Audio

Rein Teder: These stories will give you the core vocabulary you need for many situations. Get familiar with these and you will know what you need to talk about nature, travel, household, and a other useful situations. The format presents unfamiliar words close to where they are used, which works well on Kindle.
The audio is clearly spoken at just the right speed. Over and hour and half of material! I find this to be really improving my listening skills.
The material is a bit of a stretch goal for a true beginner, but a worthy one. Know this material and you will no longer be a beginner.

Spyridon Tzimas: I somehow think this still needs a bit of adjustment as it can be overwhelming for a complete beginner. You need to have some good base first before attempting to read this book. Though, in my opinion, it is a fantastic book. I am enjoying reading it.

Old Ben: The interesting and entertaining stories in this work are very well thought out and set out, it seems to me. Just the right amount of repetition and a clear translation printed with each one story. My only trouble is getting the sound to work when I want it to as it doesn't seem straightforward, but perhaps with some tuition I can have that too.

Kir Mar: I like the way the book is laid out - sections at a time with vocabulary as you go. This idea is much better than the side-by-side texts as is said in their promotion. No matter how hard I tried with the side-by-side format, I always "peeked" way too much. The audio is clear and at a reasonable pace. It very definitely is for beginners - that is what I bargained for.

Rommie: I decided to buy the book because I was interested in brushing up on some of the German I learned in college. I enjoyed trying to read the short stories along with the audio portion of the book. I also enjoyed the summary and questions at the end of each chapter. The book was easy to use and easy to follow along for the most part. I think people with a little bit of knowledge of the German language would have an easier time using this book just because they might have a better understanding of how to pronounce some of the letters and sentence structure. This might make a good intermediate textbook.

Ayla Pasquini: It features short stories and each page highlights key words to help build your vocabulary.It's definitely for someone who has already/is learning the basics of German, because it doesn't cover rules of grammar. There is also a summary of each story in both German and English which is helpful in ensuring your reading comprehension. The quiz at the end of each story is a nice feature to measure your comprehension and progress. The stories are short and easy to review in a quick session and cover a variety of practical topics. Whether you plan on visiting Germany and need lessons on things like ordering at a restaurant and navigating the train stations, or you moved abroad and need lessons on common phrases used for going to the grocery store, for household chores, or in everyday conversation, this book has you covered. The audio portion is good, it's understandable and was easy to download on my Android phone. Works on Apple devices as well and includes instructions for download.

Aakriti Sharma: These short stories contain a lot of valuable material for people in the midst of learning the German language as well as gives a little glimpse into the day to day living and culture of the Germans. Having a B2 certificate in German, which is intermediate level, I can add that I found these stories to be very useful because of the rich vocabulary, practicing sentence formation as well as pronunciation. The MP3's for each story add so much more value as you can practice your listening skills as well. The embedded glossary on each page is the icing on the cake.
