Patrick O'Neil: I love this fan. I bought one after staying at a relative's house who had one. To be clear, it is pretty darn loud on high, but I like the noise when I sleep. It is pretty quiet on low and still moves a lot of air. This is so much better than a regular stand fan.

Everyone: I have wasted a FORTUNE on fans! Every shape and size, they all break or provide about as much of a cooling breeze as someone blowing you a kiss from across the room. My sister sang the praises of this fan, so I bought one. Or maybe it was two? I can't remember, because then I got another, and another! Southern California summer heat is brutal on both your body AND your electric bills, and these babies help you out with both! You use less air conditioning because you can actually feel these fans blowing from across the room! They can be a bit noisy on highest speed, if you are watching t.v. in the same room, but we all have one in our bedrooms and the sound acts like a white noise and actually helps you fall asleep. I have left them on for both day and night, for many days straight, and they keep working like a champ!

ALEX: This is a BLOWER TOWER FAN. and it moves air much as needed. timer is great feature you can set to go off at night. directional, timer set, intensity . good days you can buy these around 65 summer around 90 bucks.
beware for returned items . my fan came in unmarked but sealed new. works nicely. earlier version seem to have burn small arising from the fan . I had to return .(it was refurbished units)

Same experience, long lasting and I loved remote control, now a must! I purchased a second model 4930, but it has had a loud vibration or clatter about 50% of the time. I probably should see if it can be repaired, just a loose part, apparently — but I NEED AIR FLOW!

I was a little confused by the repeated, persistent description of utility use: Garage, basement, or gym. I ordered it anyway because Amazon is great about returns on those rare occasions. It is fantastic with a little larger air flow area. It's better performance, I think, and very quiet. I think it looks sleek (though nearly identical size) and its design is a lot less cluttered and a lot more attractive. (Again, what's with that description?)

I did take away a star because the remote control is junk. The buttons are as small as teensy pills and aligned in columnar fashion, so it's easy for a fingertip to mash two buttons — more irritating, the fan was VERY POORLY RESPONSIVE,...
