Brian S.: I bought this 6 months ago, I use it daily, but recently noticed my fountain pens skipping and even not writing at all. As I emptied each pen, the ink came out like honey! The same thing happened with the one remaining in the bottle! I'll never my this brand of ink again. I love my Lamy fountain pen, but their ink is worthless.

Joseph Kolupke: I ordered this Lamy ink along with the cartridge converter for my Lamy pen. I’m not especially fond of fussing with bulk ink, but I wanted to eliminate prefilled cartridges as a source of the skipping problems I’ve been having with the pen (even after several flushes). The jury is still out, but it appears that the problem is in the pen. Any advice is welcome.
The ink arrived in a somewhat shopworn package, and there was a small leak in the cap seal, but the quality of the ink itself was unaffected.

Sandie Burrows: Not used yet, as only arrived yesterday, but the bottle looks neat and tidy enough to be left out on a desk.

Einfallsreichtum: LAMY, a Design Center and Manufacturer of sleek, rugged, practical, ergonomic and exceptionally crafted fountain pens (including the Internationally Acclaimed LAMY SAFARI and its older sibling, the deservedly famous, ergonomic, and superlative LAMY 2000). For the Academic/School/Student and Traveller’s markets (primarily but not exclusively), LAMY Chromatographers and Chemists formulated a Blue-Black Ink for use in its most frequently purchased, most widely used, fountain pens. That ink is the subject of this brief review.

Gautami Ambiye: I like that this ink is jet black. Also, the inkwell has a depression in the centre of the base, so you can use most of the ink without having to tilt the bottle. And there's a tape of tissue paper to clean the pen after refilling it. Even if a little on the steeper side in terms of price, it's a great ink.

Amazon Customer: This is a great Blue-Black colour to write with, one of my top Blue-Black shades. The problem came with the way Pitney Bowes shipped it. They tossed the box into a courier's plastic envelope/bag and shipped it. No bubble wrap or protection around the thin cardboard box containing the ink bottle / blotter paper spool. When it arrived and I opened the envelope, the box was smashed flat, the bottle no longer in it. The lid of the ink bottle was slightly loose... enough that in the jostling of shipping everything inside the courier envelope/bag was coated with a fine layer of ink. My hands got covered with it just openeing the envelope/bag. I had to throw out the box and envelope, and wash the ink bottle, blotting paper dispenser, and dry out the blotting paper, which was already stained with ink.
If you like Blue-Black inks, this will probably be one of your favourite shades. Just don't buy it from Pitney Bowes who have no clue how to ship ink.

Java Dude: I love my Lamy Safaris and my Lamy 2000 is amongst my very favorite pens. It's a crying shame that with these awesome pens, Lamy has always included a cartridge of their blue ink, which is the worst blue ink to ever find its way to my papers. An amazing fountain pen with the worst blue ink. Why, Lamy, why?
So when someone recommended Lamy Black to address feathering problems with my extremely wet flex nib writing on HP Premium 32 lb. paper, I cringed -- but I went ahead and bought a bottle, even though I now have 16 black fountain pen inks. I kinda know black inks. I was pleasantly surprised with Lamy Black. I had fun matching it up against famous top-of-the-line black inks. It held its ground in most cases.
It is not the darkest black, but it is dark. It is not the most saturated, but it is saturated. It dries without a noticeable sheen.
It did not feather on the HP 32 lb, or Rhodia or Black 'n Red papers, even at maximum flex, where I'm laying down a 2mm line. It did feather a bunch on the copier paper, even with a light hand. It flows consistently, on the dry side. Dry times were less than 5 seconds on copier, 22 seconds on HP 32 lb., and quite long on...

California Love: I have always been a fan of Montblanc permanent black. This Lamy black is very similar at half the price. Even comes with cool ink blotters to keep your pen clean. I look forward to buying more Lamy inks. The black is super black and aids in very smooth writing.
