rachel: The flow of ink from this disposable brush pen is the smoothest I've ever used.
And the darkest ink.
The nylon brush is nicely formed with no loose hairs and does not split, even when practicing calligraphy hooks as a beginner.

How long it lasts depends entirely on your usage, how much ink you squeeze (this brush is pressure activated) and how dark you want whatever you're drawing.

At the price of roughly $7 US, this is amazing!

Ron Petitt: I love the way this pen feels. The brush nib is juicy and has the right amount of flex. The fine nib is very nice and can provide very fine to thicker line weight with some pressure. The only reason it does not get 5 stars is because the ink is not water proof. This ink will smear with water or alcohol based markers. I let the ink set for 24 hrs and it still smeared. If you use it for line work be sure to do the line work after color. For just B+W though... it is a great pen.

Ana: I purchased two of these pens to use with practicing my kanji and handwriting. I would alternate between the two pens everyday to try and preserve the longevity of them. After roughly 4 straight months of minimal daily use (about 15 minutes of writing a day) the ink from both pens has become noticeably more gray and translucent. The pen ends are both still going strong, but the brush ends are about 65% as potent as they used to be. I predict they'll both last another 3 or 4 months before I'll have to toss them.

Seeing as how two pens will only last me 8 months, that means that one pen should only last about 4, much lower than the 12 month lifespan that several of the other comments and reviews stated. These pens are incredibly inexpensive though, so I can't complain too much. Besides that, the pens are otherwise fantastic. Both ends, the brush and the pen, are easy to write with and have minimal smearing or page bleed-through. Would definitely recommend.

Edit: I severely overestimated the lifespans of these things. A week after I submitted my initial review, and now the two brushes have both gone a translucent gray color, and are completely useless for...

ShinFuranSanShinFuranSan: It's funny that I'm apparently the only one that got this to test it for inking art rather than calligraphy. Yikes!

Already inked my art with the thin tip and it dried very quickly. No smudges at all and it was very merciful with the watercolor paper I use (some ink pens will bleed through even with the faintest touch). So this one worked immediately and smoothly. Also, the tip is sturdy, so you have control on what your are doing.

The brush tip is perfect for calligraphy and making thick shades. Very wet - so it's not something that dries quickly (the Batman art has the smudges cause I didn't let it dry properly).

Already had my hands inked all over, but washes away with water. Black ink is darker than other ink pens I own which is great.

It's a big pen compared to my other art materials but it's very comfortable to hold. Doesn't feel heavy either. The back instructions even shows that you can place the caps within each other so you don't loose 'em. That's helpful!

I will purchase more in the future and maybe I'll get into kanji calligraphy at some point because the thick brush tip feels right for it.

Taylor: I will say that I have tried quite a few brush pens from Tombow, Pentel, Pilot, Zebra, and other Kuretakes, and this one was probably one of my favorites. Just to clarify: this is a felt tip brush pen, which means it will not have individual 'hairs' or strands, but rather a cloth shaped to a point. Just want to make sure buyers know what they want, because brush pens generally fall into the felt tip or true brush tip categories, and this falls into the prior.

The ink is nice and black, and unless you zip it across the page as fast as you can, will maintain a nice thick flow. It dries pretty quick too, and unlike traditional brush pens, it doesn't bleed as much through the paper. The pressure sensitivity is great too, and you can achieve good variations of line width with the brush side. I could've cared less for the hard point though, which I rarely used.

Only downside was that if you press really hard, it permanently deforms the pen tip (which lowers the pressure variance). Not a problem for most, but my general curiosity got the better of me and I was tempted into testing it's ability to retain tip uniformity. It also tends to run out fairly quickly, but only if...
