Kocat Natural Wood Clumping Cat Litter Mini-Pellets for Less Mess

Pollywog: I like integrating this litter into a three part litter “recipe” that, for me, makes the best litter solution. Let me preface the following by saying I’m a firm believer that litter should clump so that aces and deuces are removed. I am not an advocate of pure silica litter that you only remove the deuces from.
Having established that, I like this Ococat formula as it is the least tracking, clumps pretty well, neutral smell, environment friendly (you could even long-term high-temp compost it if you wanted), pet friendly and low dust. The formula has been improved over the years and the newer formulation is superior to previous ones and the pellets narrower and easier to scoop. To make it even better, I combine 2 parts Ococat with 1 part clumping silica litter and 1 part non clumping large granule silica litter. Here’s why - 1) the pine has superior odor control while having no mold or gnats, or clay dust or track. 2) the clumping silica boost litter clumping and speeds the dry out, thus harder clumps faster. 3) the large silica crystals further speed desiccation so it brings more deuce odor control while not negatively impacting clumping - as well, it too very minimally...

Ash: I plan on being a LONGGG time buyer of this litter!! It's absolutely amazing. There are some minor cons, but for the pros (and compared to many other litters) it's more than worth it!!
For the record: I've tried many different brands of many different litters, trying to find the right 'fit' for me and my cat. I've tried : Other wood pellet litters (both clumping and nonclumping), silica gel (both clumping and nonclumping), clay, and paper litter. This is by far the best I've tried.

Pros:
- The BIGGEST pro is the odor control. I can't believe how fast it covers it up. My cat has some <stinky> poop, and this covers it in LITERAL SECONDS. The fastest than any other litter I've tried. I live in a very small apartment and there is NO ODOR, nor is there an old urine smell that many litters tend to have a hard time covering up.
- NOOO DUST!! I've tried many other "dust-free" litters and they all have at least some dust, but this one doesnt. When I scoop her box I can actually sit on the floor and lean over the box and not worry that I'm breathing in any dust (or smell).
- The clumps are softer-clumping than MANY other litters. Because of this, they not only don't...

Stephen: If you have a long haired breed, you're probably familiar with pulling litter dust out of their coat – or your furniture. Because this stuff is packed pellets, there's almost no tracking and my cat finds it much more comfortable to use. Bonus, it's not as environmentally destructive as clay based litter.

Note: As for the smell issue the other person complained about, not sure what they're referencing. I've been using this stuff for over a year, and my place never smells like a cat toilet. I'm guessing it depends on how often you scoop the litter.

Monica: We have pretty high expectations and requirements in litter: it needs to be corn-free due to our kitty's allergies, low tracking, flushable and compostable, unscented, and low to no dust.

This cat litter hits all those markers pretty well, however there are some issues we find with it.

Pros:
- Almost no dust!
- Minimal tracking. We had previously been using sWheat Step and it tracked EVERYWHERE. We keep our litter boxes in our ensuite bathroom and the okocat long hair litter tracks somewhat, but not nearly to the level of the sWheat Step.
- Clumping and flushable! It is incredibly hard to find a clumping and flushable cat litter with the exception of World's Best which is not an option for our kitties due to the corn.
- Compostable, natural wood

Cons:
- Box design is somewhat irritating. It's very hard to get all the litter out of the box without ripping it open.
- Lego levels of annoying to step on. We have hard floors in our bathroom and bedroom and though this litter doesn't track a lot, when it does stePPing on it HURTS adding pain to irritation.

cindy robinson: the WORST kitty litter EVER!!! it doesn't absorb anything...my house never smelled with other kitty litters, but with okocat...it smelled all the time....and my cats hate it as much as I do.......after the first time they tried it, they stopped using the boxes altogether and started doing their business outside the litter boxes.
