Michele Taylor: I am in my 50's and I like this author a lot. I saw this on music magpie with fantastic contents page - very comprehensive book of his work and his life; and bought it for my nephew, in his early 20's. He has since lent it to his grandmother, who is 80 this year, and she is busy telling everyone she knows how marvelous this book is.
So: suits males and females of all ages; you can dip in and out or you can read it cover to cover; and, it's well worth buying. If you like RUMI or MARCUS AURELIUS..., you will love this book on KAHLIL GIRAN.

David Rutledge: Disappointed in the quality of the paper: like newspaper, which will probably yellow in no time. The text described a "beautifully bound collectors' volume". I ask myself how much more it would have cost to print it with decent paper.

Henry Martin: The Treasured Writings of Khalil Gibran is a comprehensive collection of pretty much everything Gibran wrote during his lifetime. As such, it is a very large book—containing 902 pages.
I've been reading this 'on the side', while reading other, lighter books. While the size of the book may be intimidating to some readers, I have found that it is best read one or two short pieces at a time. This is partly because taking it slowly will allow the reader to reflect upon the text, and partly because Gibran's writing is so amazingly approachable that it can be picked up any time without worrying about missing anything.
The book is comprised of several separate sections: Tears and laughter, Between night and morn, Secrets of the heart, Spirits rebellious, The broken wings, The voice of the master, Thoughts and meditations, A self-portrait, Mirrors of the soul, and The wisdom of Khalil Gibran. Among the texts are interspersed Gibran's poems, which I was not familiar with.
How does one define Gibran's writing? Or. rather, the question should be whether Gibran's writing allows definition at all. At times, one feels that he is reading a philosophical thesis on humanity....

Donna Thomas: Read The Prophet in1973 when I was 22 years old. My life took an unexpected path at that time . Now , 41 years layer, again I find Gibran on this path I have chosen. Again, I can feel the currant under my wings as my journey takes a new direction. He is such a road worthy companion. Every thing a pilgrim could want or need. Strong beautiful views from a courageous and generous soul.

José Luis: The books of Khalil Gibran are unique, some words of inmortality in a world where everything has an expiry date. The book includes almost all of his most noticeable writtings. A book with deeper thoughts, beautiful language and as always in Gibran books, full with knowledge and a deeper meaning.
Highly recommendable.

Lawrence: There is no price for knowledge and wisdom. This is a gem that will make a great bedside read every now and then, a great companion in one's life journey, and a treasure to keep as one embarks on a journey inward. And for less than $10, this extensive collection of Kahlil Gibran stretches over 900 pages, I expect it to be out of print in no time. Like "The Book of Mirdad" by Mikhail Naimy which I had to order from bookstores in India, and books by OSHO, J. Krishnamurti, Rabindranath Tagore, this is another master piece. I love it.

Goke: Kahlil Gibran is a good writer, and there are a lot of gems in his work. No doubt, his influences were of the times that he was writing in, as some of his opinions and his worldview are dated, but it’s a good opportunity to peek into the reality of one who writes completely differently when compared with the Western writers whose work I’ve passively read.
His opinions on love, spirituality, and the things that he envisions are definitely not of our present reality, but good material for deriving new creative work. I’ve highlighted the gems that stood out the most to me.
